It is interesting to note how hot this topic was in the Korean entertainment news when the episode aired. The producers of the show knew it would be and made sure to advertise that this information would be revealed before they aired the episode. There is a lot of pressure for females in Korea to be skinny, with the pressure even higher for those that appear on TV. The measurements shown on Real Men were all higher for weight and lower for height than what their public profiles, available on Naver, state.
While the show didnt air all the post-examination interviews, it showed through the interviews of Hyeri and Kim So Yeon and through the expressions on the casts faces that none of them welcomed such revelation. In fact, they were embarrassed and Kim So Yeon and Hyeri made excuses for weighing more than what people expected them to. Even at those measurements displayed in the show, Hyeri and Kim So Yeon are underweight.
Does It Really Matter If A K-Drama Actress Gained Weight Or Had Plastic Surgery? [Poll]
IU has previously revealed her struggles with an eating disorder. In July 2014, she discussed her battle with bulimia on the show, Healing Camp. I would eat until I threw up, she said. I had to receive treatment for it.
In addition to her music, IU is best known for her role as Kim Pil Sook in the 2011 drama Dream High. Pil Sook struggled with weight loss, before drastically dieting. After she sheds a significant amount of weight, she catches the interest of Jason (2PMs Wooyoung) and successfully lands a recording contract.
Both articles focus on weight loss and physical training but the report by Dispatch also analyzes plastic surgery. Korea has gained notoriety for its flourishing plastic surgery industry, with more citizens going under the knife than almost any other country in the world. According to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, one in five women in South Korea will have a plastic surgery procedure. By comparison, in the United States the figure is one in twenty. In 2013, American media which attributed the plastic surgery boom in South Korea to growing consumer demand and K-pop. K-Drama also plays a role in the plastic surgery boom, as stars are praised for their evolving appearance.
K-Drama Actors Who Lost Considerable Weight For A Role
Ji Chang Wook lost 22 pounds for his role in the drama "Five Fingers." He felt that his character In Ha was so anxious and miserable that he should look thin. The six-foot-tall actor dropped from an already slender 158 pounds to 138 pounds. Park Min Young lost weight before co-starring with him in "The Healer." She used dance as a way to lose pounds, wanting to look her best for the drama"s intimate scenes.
Jo Jung Suk lost 17 pounds for his role as an elite army captain in the drama "The King 2 Hearts." He achieved his weight loss by working out and dieting. For that same drama, Ha Ji Won lost about eight pounds although it"s hard to believe she ever has to make an effort with all the calorie-burning stunt work she does. But she was also playing an elite soldier and she felt she had to look the part.
Kim Bum lost 25 pounds to play the role of the seemingly anorexic angel in "Padam Padam." His character slept shirtless so his wings would be free to sprout when he needed them. But the shirtless and shower scenes made Kim want to shape up. He exercised and dieted on potatoes and bananas to achieve his "heavenly" slender look.
Kim Rae-won"s "Punch - Drama" first started filming at the SBS Ilsan production house. Park Jeong-hwan (Kim Rae-won) and his henchmen brainstorm to make Lee Tae-joon (Jo Jae-hyeon) the Public Prosecutor General in the first episode. This scene brings out Park Jeong-hwan"s head-first character where he always gets what he wants.
As a result of working day and night, Park Jeong-hwan becomes an investigator and compromises with injustice for a bigger success, but in the process, he loses many things and gets injured.
Meanwhile, "Punch - Drama" is a bloody drama about an investigator surviving the "jungle-like" world. It will be on aire in December after "Secret Door".
[Hancinema"s Drama Review] "drama Special - Hwapyeong Princess"s Weight Loss"
Its deeper thematic elements aren"t quite so unique. Whereas "200 Pounds Beauty" had obvious satirical elements at play regarding the way perception plays with the way we treat other people, "Drama Special - Hwapyeong Princess"s Weight Loss" is a much more straightforward tale of how true beauty is on the inside, and the people who can"t recognize that are jerks who aren"t worth your time. Obviously Yoo Jin looks a lot better without the fat suit but the ending at least pays lip service to the idea that Princess Hwapyeong deserves dignity regardless of the way she looks.
In a really stretched interpretation, the drama"s also saying that what"s really important in love is to have someone who can directly inspire change via direct encouragement rather than just sneaking around surreptitiously. Once Princess Hwapyeong starts to look like Yoo Jin, her attitude also changes markedly. She decides to pick better battles, and live for something more noble than the love of a man, even if that"s at least a partial motivation.
Also there"s jokes. It"s a romantic comedy- what did you expect? "Drama Special - Hwapyeong Princess"s Weight Loss" mostly coasts by on strength of its concept along with various visual flourishes to give the impression of a mildly adult fairy tale. It"s not really that objectively impressively, and some of the plot points linger on a bit too long when the story direction is pretty predictable. Regardless, the drama succeeds in its basic goals, and should not be faulted for that.

Following last year"s smash collaboration "What"s Your Name?," the producer and the five-piece K-pop girl group entered the recording studio together once more and again came out with dance floor gold, this time on the new single "Only Gained Weight."
The song is the second installment of the Brave Brothers "10th Anniversary Project," a concept begun in December, where the superstar producer will release one song per month, each for a different artist, for the next 10 months, to commemorate the decade of work he has done since being hired as a producer for YG Entertainment in 2004.
“Age-Height” is a comical song with witty lyrics targeting the male preference of young and skinny women, and features a catchy chorus and a funny rap. The music video parodies many popular music videos from 2013, including EXO’s “Growl,” Sunmi’s “24 Hours,” missA’s “Hush,” Trouble Maker’s “Now,” 2NE1’s “Missing You,” and features various other comedians.
This is Song Eun Yi’s first comeback as a singer in 14 years, and she was unable to hide her nerves. She said, “I’ve done television for 21 years, and whenever the light would come on, I was confident and had no problem talking, but now I feel like a rookie again, who has come to the broadcast station for the first time, finding everything fresh and new.”
This duo was proposed by their agency FNC Entertainment, and gives Song Eun Yi a chance to show her singing ability, and Song Seung Hyun a chance to show off his various talents. Song Seung Hyun said “I thought it was a chance to show a new side of me, so I really gave it my all. The filming was difficult, but it was fun and quite the experience.”
