TaeTiSeo Makes a Grand Comeback with “Holler” MV Written by Willis On September 18, 2014

The Girls’ Generation subunit TaeTiSeo has made a grand return with title song and mini album “Holler.” A little over two years have passed since we last saw the trio of Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun in action promoting “Twinkle” together. At that time, seeing the members of Girls’ Generation performing something different from their usual style was exciting. It even spurred on speculation of other potential Girls’ Generation groupings. Alas, the fans got no new subunit, but instead the established subgroup of TaeTiSeo has graced us with the upbeat pop number “Holler.”

At first glance, the stylistic elements of “Holler” feel similar to the “Twinkle” era with a glam aesthetic as the girls take the audience through the different floors of ‘Hotel Holler

[HanCinema"s Drama Review] “Blade Man” Episode 2

By in News posted Oct September 16th, 2014 No comments

The mythical element is inextricably linked to Hong-bin"s anger issues that stem from him shattered family relations. It grounds the mysticism into a real and relatable subject matter. The broken relationship between Hong-bin and his father extends to his younger brother as well. Gaining a son, Chang, brings an element of family back into Hong-bin"s life that will be the pathway to reconnecting with the family he distanced himself from. It will also bring him closer to Se-dong who already intrigues him as much as she intrigues me.

Se-dong is a methodical woman who is a natural caregiver. She doesn"t blindly give to the point of harming herself, though, which makes her a rarity amongst K-drama heroines. Her way of handling the irrational Hong-bin by being earnest and truthful is just what he needs rather than people who tiptoe around him

Art shows across the country in September

By in News posted Oct September 14th, 2014 No comments

September is turning into an eventful month for the arts. There are three modern art shows taking place across the country, one after another. Over 10,000 installation and media art works are and will be presented in Gwangju, Seoul and Busan, making September one of the busiest months for art lovers and citizens alike. The main theme of the 10th Gwangju Biennale, which started September 5, is, "Burning Down the House". Jessica Morgan, curator of contemporary art at the Tate Modern in London, is the artistic director for this year"s biennale. The event is named after a song by the Talking Heads, a New York-based punk group from the 1980s. The house in the title refers to the status quo or to old habits."Korea lost a lot of things during its rapid economic growth", said Morgan. "Burning down the house is an act of making something new

Actor Gong Yoo to Star in a Music Video for the First Time in 13 Years

By in News posted Oct September 14th, 2014 No comments

It has been revealed that actor Gong Yoo will be starring in a music video for the first time in 13 years. The music video is for singer Kim Dong Ryul’s upcoming comeback in early-October with a brand new full-length album.

On September 14, a music industry rep shared that Gong Yoo wrapped up shooting the music video for the title song of Kim Dong Ryul’s new album at the end of August. Since the actor’s debut in 2001, he has received countless ‘love calls’ to be featured in music videos but was always hesitant to accept. However, it is being reported that Gong Yoo gladly made the decision to appear in this particular music video, as he has always been a big fan of the singer.

It has been about 13 years since Gong Yoo last participated in a music video for a project album with actors Kwon Sang Woo and Lee Yo Won, during the same year as his debut

Orange Caramel Strut Down “The Gangnam Avenue”

Orange Caramel Strut Down “The Gangnam Avenue” Written by Lo On September 13, 2014

Orange Caramel have made waves with their latest comeback, My Copycat. The charming “Where’s Waldo/Spot-the-difference” concept has won a lot of praise from fans, including us writers at Seoulbeats. And now, they’ve done something with My Copycat that they haven’t done before: pushing their B-side, “The Gangnam Avenue”.

“The Gangnam Avenue” appears to be quite an odd sock for an Orange Caramel release. The hallmarks that fans have come to associate with Orange Caramel are gone. There’s no quirk, no cuteness, no bubbling sweetness. “The Gangnam Avenue” is a song rife with lyrical dissonance — a breakup number with an energetic techno beat. Yet that exact combination dominates Orange Caramel’s B-sides

John Park’s “U” — An Addiction to Love?

John Park’s “U” — An Addiction to Love? Written by Laura On September 13, 2014

A haunting piano melody resounds. Illuminated by harsh lighting, a young man cocks his head as he stares relentlessly into the camera. The movement seems barely human, an impression underlined by his unchanging expression.

Can this be him, the viewer may asks themself — the same young man who strolled around pastel-colored sets just 14 months ago, fumbling to declare his love to his “Baby“? The same wide-eyed, amiable babo who quietly worked his way into some of the most popular variety shows in South Korea over the course of the last year?

Indeed, John Park has returned to the music scene; and what a return it is. His new song “U”, described as a “soul-based UK pop-style song”, certainly adds a new sound to this year’s diverse releases
