Tan and Young Do stand apart, but together, looking out into the city. YD finally breaks the silence: “It’s cold.” He’s describing the weather, but it is also how he feels. Tan adds, “It’s cold…and dark.” Silence falls between them again as they each try to fight off the cold and dark feeling hovering over them because of their fathers.

When dramas go crazy: Aurora Princess, a case study

We’ve been following the ever-evolving story of Aurora Princess with raised eyebrows for months, as it has become a fixture in the headlines for its parade of shenanigans. And while it’s not the type of drama we’d typically be devoting a lot of attention to, it’s worth looking at if only as the cautionary tale of what not to do when making a show. If ever there were a case of a drama having more drama behind the cameras than in front of them, this would be it.

“Empress Ki” Episode 17 – 18 Recap by Couch-Kimchi:

Things moved along nicely, I’m happy with the pace since we have a long ways to go. We have a curse to deal with and we got to see a jealous Goryeo King! I’m thisclose to boarding the WY/SN ship but who knows where I’ll be next week. (LOL) My mind changes on an hourly basis.
We open on Wang Yoo flashing back on the intimate scene on the bridge. He breaks the cup he’s holding in frustration (anger? sadness? all of these?) cutting his hand. Ta Hwan watches Ki and teases that she only allowed him her back – why not a hug? (LOL) He suddenly pulls her close and covers her ears, telling her he wants to challenge El Terror but that she witnessed him weak makes him want to die. Can she hear him? If so, she pretends that she can’t.

Kim Yoo-jung, Seo Joon-young reunite in drama special

There are always too many drama specials that go by each year to keep up with all of them, but I’m definitely going to tune in for this one. It’s a sageuk one-act short for KBS’s 2014 Drama Special series called Funeral Singer, and Kim Yoo-jung (Gold Rainbow) is headlining. She’ll be reuniting with Seo Joon-young (Unemployed Romance) four years after they were both in Gumiho: Tale of the Fox’s Child. I really adore them both so I’m excited to see them in something new, even if one hour is way too short.

EPISODE 15 RECAP by Dramabeans

Even after Shinichi receives one of Baek-san’s finishing moves, he continues to fight until a group of Kaya’s henchmen come to fetch him on her orders. Shinichi refuses at first, wanting to finish the fight, but acquiesces immediately when the henchmen show him a mysterious black bag.

Baek-san acts all friendly to Jung-tae after the fight, though Jung-tae’s not too keen on returning the kindness. He promises to repay the debt he owes Baek-san (for saving him from Shinichi), but there’s something darker in that promise—he’s talking revenge.

10 BEST HISTORICAL DRAMAS
Historical dramas run the gamut from comedy to brutality, sometimes all in the same drama! Counter to the normal K-Drama, a historical drama can actually provide a little bit of education. While I won”t pretend that “The Night Watchman” or “Book of the House of Gu is real, they do have as their backdrop a real period in history, which can provide an interest in learning more about that era. They can also provide a rich visual feast and show you things you simply won”t see anymore. Whatever the reasons, the historical drama is an important K-drama staple. Here are my picks for the 10 best!

by Dramabeans:

Yeongjo gives Sun a chance to be reinstated as prince-regent—all he has to do is meet the Qing envoys who are on their way and ready to declare war (over a naval skirmish with a Joseon fishing boat), and stop a war from happening. Oh, is that all?

He makes it clear that taking on the task is a double-edged sword because if Sun succeeds, he does get to be regent again, but if he fails, he will forever be stripped of his rights to the regency. That means he’ll never practice politics ever again. Yeongjo makes sure to add that he won’t be lenient on him just because he’s his only son. I’m pretty sure no one here thought you would. But his point stings nonetheless—he’s happy to find a successor elsewhere.
