Please welcome Soompi Forum moderator laquetahodge, who will be covering “The Heirs” for us on a weekly basis. She has her own blog called K-Drama Central with a lot of useful information and advice on what to watch, in case your drama plate isn’t full enough! -soomp
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, then I’m sure you’ve heard about SBS’s newest drama written by Kim Eun Sook who is the brains behind last year’s “A Gentleman’s Dignity” and 2010′s “Secret Garden.” “The Heirs” is about an exclusive high school and the rich, elite students who attend it. Technically this is it, but you can also say it’s about rich kids and a poor girl who falls in love with one of the elite students at Empire High School. Either one is fine.
On October 20, stills were released of Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum looking extremely close on the set of the popular KBS drama “Secret Love” reviewing the script together.
According to the crew, they spend most of their time on set going over the script and making sure they properly deliver with their respective characters and scenes.
Bae Soo Bin and Lee Da Hee were also captured on set rehearsing together. In the eighth episode, Bae Soo Bin reveals his desire for Lee Da Hee’s character, and we can see the passion in his eyes even during rehearsal- no doubt why viewers constantly compliment him on his realistic performances.
Jung Yong hwa and Yoon Eun Hye were filmed enjoying a quiet blanket date.
On the October 21 episode of KBS2TV’s “Future Choice,” Jung Yong Hwa ‘s and Yoon Eun Hye’s characters were shown having a secret date in an empty office.
The episode showed the two characters warmly sitting next to each other under the same blanket, sharing a conversation.
The October 11 filming of Jung Yong Hwa’s and Yoon Eun Hye’s blanket date was due to a mistake made by Yoon Eun Hye’s character, Mi rae, that caused both Se Ju (Jung Yong Hwa) and Mirae to become drenched. The intimate scene between the two actors portrayed the developing feelings between the two in the drama, causing many viewers to wonder about Mi Rae’s future choice.
Kim Tan (Lee Min Ho) is shocked by seeing Eun Sang (Park Shin Hye) at his house. Meanwhile, Eun Sang is surprised when she sees Kim Tan right when she finishes school. Meanwhile, Rachel is pissed that Kim Tan didn’t let her know that he is back in Korea while Eun Sang transfers to Jaeguk High with the help of Chairman Kim..
Jung Ji Sook: He’s all grown up now, knowing how to drive out his older brother.
Cha Eun Sang: Don’t move.
Rachel: You… what are you doing right now? Are you crazy?!
Cha Eun Sang: I’ll just take your nametag. Call me if you want to find it.
Choi Young Do: Is this your number?
Cha Eun Sang: Huh?
Choi Young Do: I even went to the extent of paying to get your phone number.
Kim Tan: Because I’m interested.
Cha Eun Sang: That’s why, why should you..?
Kim Tan: Because you’re pretty.. I can’t get you out of my mind and it’s killlllling me.
Cha Eun Sang: Lets just forget about school and get out of this dog house like we’re hidden criminals!
Choi Young Do: I didn’t [properly] introduce you.. you’re mine from today.
Yoon Chan Young: A school for satans.. and Lucifer makes his appearance..
Kim Tan: Missed you, friend.
Choi Young Do: Welcome.
Chan Young (Kang Min Hyuk), who saw Eun Sang (Park Shin Hye), grabs her wrist to lead her out and starts to explain the class ranking system of Jaeguk High. Rachel is crabby because Kim Tan (Lee Min Ho) is taking care of Eun Sang and insists that her transfer to the school has to do something with him. Meanwhile, Kim Tan and Young Do are fiercely staring each other down in an empty classroom…
“Secret Love” vs. “The Heirs” vs. “Medical Top Team”: Which Drama Came Out on Top in Wednesday Ratings?
Among the three new dramas that are competing for the top spot on the ratings chart for Wednesday and Thursday, KBS‘s “Secret Love” took first place in viewership ratings. MBC’s new drama “Medical Top Team” debuted at a disappointing third place.
According to Nielson Korea’s October 9 ratings, “Medical Top Team” took 7.3% of the viewers, while SBS’s new drama “The Heirs” took 11.6% of the viewership. KBS’s “Secret Love” led the rankings by taking in 12.4% of the viewership.
This week’s episodes were kind of heavy with the story lines with Tanny (Yes, he’s Tanny) coming back and finally seeing his old friend Young Do face to face. This week was pretty intense though I feel like it’ll only get worse in the coming weeks. We’ve had some things come to light and then had hints of others, and we saw some softer sides of a few colder characters. This week, I’ll try to come up with some theories to five moments. Remember these are only theories and can change according to what actually happens in the drama.
Vocal group 4Men has been chosen to take the lead for MBC’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Empress Ki.”
4Men’s OST for “Empress Ki,” titled “Thorn Love,” plans to be released on midnight of October 28. On the news of 4Men’s contribution to the drama’s OST, many have expressed their anticipation for the new song as the vocal group had previously sang OSTs for such hit dramas as “Secret Garden,” “Bridal Mask,” and “The Gu Family Book.”
Kim Tan (Lee Min Ho), who misunderstands Eun Sang (Park Shin Hye) for being with Choi Young Do (Kim Woo Bin), becomes short-tempered asking her why she met him while Eun Sang becomes curious of the two’s relationship. Rachel (Kim Ji Won), who hears that they should take a family portrait from her mom, goes to find Young Do. Meanwhile, Kim Won (Choi Jin Hyuk) treats Kim Tan, who cheerfully greets him, the opposite with coldness…
Joining the group of beautiful voices, Ailee will be singing for the OST of KBS’ Secret.
As the fifth OST track for Secret, Ailee sang a song titled, Tears Stole the Heart. Through this song, Ailee also showed a very unique relationship with director Lee Eung Bok.
It turned out that Lee Eung Bok directed KBS’ Dream High 2, in which Ailee made her acting debut. Ailee decided to feature in the OST to show her gratitude for the director.
Eun Sang (Park Shin Hye), whose heart hurts after receiving Kim Tan’s (Lee Min Ho) confession, can’t give a reply while Kim Tan, who hit Choi Young Do (Kim Woo Bin) listens to his father’s warning. Meanwhile, Eun Sang gets accepted by Jeguk High’s broadcast station’s PD, and Rachel ends up hearing what Kim Tan says to Eun Sang…
Kim Tan: Do we look good together?
Choi Young Do: Why do you ask an important question like that?
Kim Tan: We look good together.
Mistress Han: If you act like that, you and your mom can’t live here anymore.
Choi Young Do: Sit.
Cha Eun Sang: What’s the meaning of me sitting here?
Kim Tan: Stand up. I SAID TO STAND UP!
Choi Young Do: What kind of eating manners is this.
Kim Tan: This b****.
The chief producer of KBS2TV’s drama “Secret Love” teased viewers by offering hints for the drama’s ending.
On October 29, team leader and chief producer Hwang Eui Kyung commented, “Although the last episode’s script is not complete, when I heard the writer’s thoughts on the ending I knew for sure that the viewers of the drama would never imagine such content.” Furthermore, the chief producer raised curiosities when he expressed, “The matter at hand is not whether ‘Secret Love’ will have a happy ending or sad ending, and it’s also not about whether the drama will have revenge or not. It is hard to clearly express what kind of surprises will be hidden within the upcoming storyline.”
If KBS Secret did it on Wednesday night, SBS’ The Heirs took its turn on Thursday night.
As Kim Tan (Lee Min Ho) made his confession to Cha Eun Sang (Park Shin Hye), heart are fluttering everywhere with young romance blossoming away.
Unfortunately, so is the painful love triangle, as Choi Young Do (Kim Woo Bin) is realizing that he has feelings for Cha Eun Sang as well, although his acts of affection are being mistaken as bullying.
