Girls’ Generation’s Yoona is coming back to the small screen with talented actor, Lee Bum Soo, in KBS’ new drama, Prime Minister and I (tentative title).
Dramatic Tok, in charge of the promotion for Prime Minister and I, announced, “Lee Bum Soo and Yoona have been cast in KBS’ upcoming Monday and Tuesday drama, Prime Minister and I,” and “Filming will start at the end of October.”
SM Entertainment staff talked with enews on October 21 also confirming the news, saying, “Yoona will be the main lead of Prime Minister and I. She will be playing a 28-year old reporter with a charming personality unlike any other.”
It was previously reported that actor Lee Bum Soo and Girls’ Generation’s YoonA were positively reviewing the script for “Prime Minister and I.” Now, both sides have confirmed their participation to lead the drama.
On October 21, KBS side stated, “Both YoonA and Lee Bum Soo confirmed for ‘Prime Minister and I’ and filming will start at the end of October. Lee Bum Soo is forty-three years old while YoonA is twenty-three. Even though they have a twenty-year age gap, we’re expecting a different sort of chemistry [than the usual]. Also, YoonA’s acting transformation will be something to look forward to.”
Yoon Shi Yoon will transform into Korea’s top one percent government employee.
Yoon Shi Yoon has recently been casted in KBS’ upcoming romantic comedy, Prime Minister and I and have already begun filming.
Prime Minister and I is a love story about a family who is 100 percent business and 0 percent child care, that is, until a mother arrives to the family like a Christmas present. The drama has already confirmed casting Girls’ Generation’s Yoona and Lee Bum Soo, raising anticipation for a warm family drama to come this winter.
Seems like Girls’ Generation‘s YoonA is literally clinging to Lee Bum Soo right from the beginning.

With his piercing eyes, Lee Bum Soo looks at YoonA intensively, making viewers wonder what has happened between the two.

The new stills of Lee Bum Soo show him as a charismatic and sharply-dressed prime minister. The first trailer also depict Lee Bum Soo in the same manner, a sharp contrast to bubbly YoonA featured in the second trailer. Both trailers only contain one line of dialogue, with YoonA calling out to Lee Bum Soo, “Prime Minister!” At the end, YoonA narrates, ”In December, the Prime Minister of Korea transforms.”
On December 4, fans from seven different countries (Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Thailand) sent an incredible 15.373 tons of Dreame rice wreaths to the “Prime Minister and I” press conference to show their support for YoonA.
The Dreame rice wreathes will be donated to those going through a difficult time, such as senior citizens and hungry children.
After the press conference, YoonA thanked all her fans via Girls” Generation”s official homepage. She said, “We finally held the press conference today for KBS” Monday-Tuesday drama “Prime Minister and I”, which airs its first episode on December 9~. Because of the overflowing amount of rice at the entrance and the tons of love you sent with it, I think I was able to gain strength and conclude the press conference well. It was the best. Girls’ Generation will be coming back early next year. Their new concept will have more of a masculine charm.
According to music insiders on January 6, Girls’ Generation came to a decision on their title track and also started their music video filming. They have officially started preparations for their comeback. Currently, their expected comeback date is January of next year and details are still being worked out. This will be their comeback after one year since “I Got A Boy.”
“The Prime Minister and I” has a decent premiere in the ratings taking in more than 5% of viewers.
According to the Nielson Korea ratings, the first episode of KBS2‘s “Prime Minister and I” brought in approximate 5.9% of viewers, placing it third among Mon-Tues dramas.
This is an increase from the previous drama “Marry Him if You Dare” that occupied the same time slot on KBS2. The last episode of “Marry Him if You Dare” brought in 4.1% of viewers, giving KBS2 an1.8% increase in viewership for the time slot.
Despite the mostly positive response to Lee Bum Soo and YoonA‘s “Prime Minister and I,” it continues its third-place position for its second episode, with MBC’s “Empress Ki” continuing its domination of the airwaves.
According to ratings agency, Nielsen Korea, ratings for the December 10 broadcast of MBC Monday-Tuesday drama “Empress Ki” Episode 14 recorded a 19.5% viewership nationwide, a slight drop of 0.7% from Monday’s Episode 13 20.2% rating.

“Prime Minister and I” is a romantic fantasy, depicting the romance between an obstinate Prime Minister and a scandal reporter in her 20s who desperately wants to get married. The first three episodes that aired comically followed how a third-rate reporter Nam Da Jung (YoonA) and Korea’s youngest president Kwon Yul (Lee Bum Soo) met and the circumstances that led to their marriage.
“Empress Ki” continued to maintain strong ratings this week.
Nielsen Korea report stated that MBC Monday-Tuesday drama “Empress Ki” scored a nationwide rating of 18.8% for its December 17 broadcast. That figure is the same as its previous episode rating on December 16.
While “Empress Ki” remains unrivalled in its number one position, there has been a slight drop from 20.2% and 19.5% ratings for last week’s Monday and Tuesday episodes, respectively.

MBC’s popular drama series “Empress Ki” has secured its ratings crown for a whopping 10th week in a row.
The 50-part historic epic dominated AGB Nielsen Media Research (Nielsen Korea)’s ratings chart again after drawing in an average viewership of 18.5 percent during January 6 and 7, the chart showed on Wednesday.
Sitting at the No. 2 place is SBS’s melodrama “One Warm Word,” which nabbed in an average of 9.6 percent of total viewers in the same time frame.
KBS’s romantic comedy series “Prime Minister & I” continued to sit at the bottom place with an average mark of 7.3 percent.
Meanwhile, TNmS’s (Total National Multimedia Statistic) survey showed the three programs in the same order yet slightly lower numbers than Nielsen Korea’s.
“Empress Ki” continued its top seed with an average score of 17.8 percent, while “One Warm Word” and “Prime Minister” followed next two spots, each with average numbers of 7.5 and 6.5 percent, respectively.
Actor Yoon Si Yoon recently revealed that he had applied to be in the Marine Corps and is currently waiting for the results.
His agency Taxi Entertainment said, “Yoon Si Yoon applied to be in the Marine Corps back in January while he was filming KBS drama “Prime Minister and I.” Currently, he is waiting for the results.
For a while, Yoon Si Yoon had been showing a strong will in relation to the fulfillment of military service as a robust young man of South Korea. He plans on being active until he enters the army, but hopes to enlist quietly if possible in order to avoid harming the other soldiers.”
Actress Jin Se Yeon will attempt to play two roles in “Doctor Stranger.”
On the 26th, the production team released stills of Jin Se Yeon playing two characters in the upcoming SBS Monday-Tuesday drama “Doctor Stranger” that will air its first episode on May 5. In the drama, Jin Se Yeon plays the roles of Song Jae Hee, a North Korean medical student, and Han Seung Hee, a South Korean physician.
“Doctor Stranger” depicts a medical-intelligence melodrama about a massive conspiracy surrounding a genius doctor born in South Korea but raised in North Korea by the name of Park Hoon (Lee Jong Suk) and South Korea’s top elite doctor Han Jae Joon (Park Hae Jin.) Using Myung Woo University Hospital as the background, the drama portrays a story of love and competition with the characters standing in the center of a North Korean conspiracy to select the team members of the surgery team that will operate on the South Korean Prime Minister Jang Seok Joo (Cheon Ho Jin.)
Still cuts of SISTAR’s Bora’s cameo in SBS’s new drama, “Doctor Stranger,” have been revealed.
In the still cuts that have been revealed on April 26, Bora has transformed into a tomboy, wearing vintage style clothing and a uniform cap, which is a different look from her usual sexy appearance on stage. Bora played as Lee Chang Yi, a North Korean woman, and has shown a variety of charms as she worked with Lee Jong Suk.
The annual award that celebrates achievements in both film and television is back with its 50th edition. The “50th Baeksang Art Awards” airs today on JTBC starting 6:20 PM KST, taking place at Kyunghee University Hall of Peace in Seoul. Gag Concert has a grand history as the longest running comedy show on South Korean television. Beginning in 1999, Gag Concert has managed to keep up with a rotating cast of comedians and new and newer skits. As a sketch comedy show, Gag Concert comprises of “corners” featuring certain scenarios, like Bboom Entertainment and Discoveries of Life. Ha Ji Won”s latest charity work is going to help children smile. She recently became the second Asian honorary ambassador of the children”s charity known as Operation Smile. As Jackie Chan was the first Asian ambassador, she is the first Asian woman to represent the group. Past representatives include Mariah Carey and Jessica Simpson.
The international children”s medical charity provides cleft lip and palate surgeries, as well as ongoing medical therapies to children with facial deformities. The charity helps children in less developed countries, currently reaching out to children in 63 nations.
In the middle of the night, prosecutor PARK JUNG-HWAN (Kim Rae-won) is roused from his modest single room by his panicked superior, who shows him the latest news: someone who isn’t him has announced his candidacy for the position of Prosecutor General, and he wants Jung-hwan to do something about it.
They both know the man on the front page, as the superior Prosecutor General candidate LEE TAE-JOON (Jo Jae-hyun) fumes that he’ll quit his job as a prosecutor if he doesn’t get that position.
