SB End-Of-Year Review: The Best Dramas Of 2014 Written by Seoulbeats On December 18, 2014
2014 was a year when we saw everything from alien to liars to remakes in the drama-sphere. Export prices for dramas shot up the roof this past year, and it’s a good reminder that the Korean wave is more than just about music and idols, as Korean dramas certainly have their own attraction as they actually appeal to a wider range of audience, young and old. Following up from the mid-year review, the drama fanatics on the team are back to bring you our thoughts and feelings on 2014′s showing.
No Min Woo”s latest drama “The Greatest Marriage” aired its last episode on Dec. 29. In that drama he played Park Tae Yeon, a self-absorbed character who was both charming and horrible to the mother of his child, played by Park Si Yeon. And once Park Tae Yeon was horrible, it was too late for a do over. Despite the consequences the character could not revisit the past to make things right.
In real life the charming No Min Woo is much nicer than his character in “The Greatest Marriage.” And he recently had a chance to revisit his rock star past and try things differently. On Dec 20 and 21st, he performed concerts in Japan. The concerts were his first appearances since performing there with the band TRAX. Only this time he performed solo concerts, both of which were well received by his Japanese fans.
In addition to his revolt against FNC Entertainment“s CEO, F.T. Island”s Hongki revealed on the April 1st episode of “Radio Star” that he brought in the most revenue for his company through his appearance in “Bride of the Century“.
Hongki said, “Last year, I starred in the cable drama “Bride of the Century”. The drama did really well in China and garnered a lot of popularity.” When he was asked about his revenue, Hongki said that he single-handedly brought in the most revenue for the company.

It’s June 1995, which means Mom and Dad’s baby Sook-sookie is already born. Haitai babysits by dancing to Roo’Ra’s “Angel Without Wings” with Baby in his arms. Cable network TV Chosun is getting back in the drama game in the coming year with a new fantasy drama called Hundred Year Bride, and has cast FT Island’s Lee Hong-ki (You’re Beautiful) and newbie model-turned-actress Yang Jin-sung (she played Ji Sung’s first love in Secret) as the leading couple. You’re Beautiful was actually the last thing I saw Lee Hong-ki in, so it seems like forever since he was last in dramaland (he’s since done a movie).
