Lim Chang Jung repeats as No. 1 for the second week in a row with “Ordinary Song.” In another wide open week last week in which different songs were winning on various music shows, “Ordinary Song” was clearly the most consistent song amongst music charts and was able to win again. Congratulations to Lim Chang Jung.
Moving up three spots to No. 2 is Orange Caramel’s “Catallena.” This song dropped to No. 5 last week and was able to rebound three spots up to second this week, just ten points below “Ordinary Song.” Historically, Orange Caramel’s songs have done well and also fared better than After School’s songs on our chart. This time is no exception. Let see if “Catallena” can move up to the top spot next week.
There are four new songs in the top 10, all by non-idol artists
2NE1’s “Come Back Home” becomes our new No. 1 song this week, swapping positions with Girls’ Generation’s “Mr. Mr.”
“Come Back Home” won on M!Countdown and also ranked higher than “Mr. Mr.” on GAON, Billboard Korea, and most internet charts, enabling 2NE1 to claim the top spot over Girls’ Generation. Congratulations to 2NE1. Next week we expect these two songs to battle again for the top spot.
There are two new songs in the top 10 this week, both are from sub-units. Moving up 20 spots to No. 3 is Orange Caramel’s “Catallena.” The After School sub-unit returns to the top 10 for the first time in one and a half year. “Catallena” is an Indian style dance track inspired by a Punjabi folk song “Jutti Meri
Girls’ Generation’s “Mr. Mr.” becomes our new No. 1 song this week, moving up from No. 3 last week. Carrying the strength of four music show wins in last week’s M!Countdown, KBS Music Bank, MBC’s Music Core and Show Champion, “Mr. Mr.” finally moves up to the top spot and distinguish itself from the rest of the strong competitions. Congratulations to Girls’ Generations.
Moving up two spots to No. 2 is 2NE1’s “Come Back Home.” This song won on SBS Inkigayo last week and prevented “Mr. Mr.” from sweeping all music shows. “Come Back Home” was not yet ranked in M!Countdown yet as of last week, and that explains the gap in scoring between this song and “Mr. Mr.”
We only have one brand new song in the top 10 this week and it is right below the top two
The two top girl groups in South Korea (and possibly the world) both released their music near the end of February, sparking a whole lot of interest as well as setting a competitive edge in the K-Pop world whether this was intentional or even wanted. Of course Girls" Generation ("Mr.Mr") and 2NE1 ("Come Back Home") are vastly different in style and feel, but how did they end up satisfying or dissatisfying the crowd?
Check out reviewers eric-r-wirsing, joora, and joy-k as they take on the challenge of comparing the two top groups in various categories on their respective long-awaited comebacks!
This is a tough call. "Mr.Mr" and "Come Back Home" are two great songs in very different styles
The movie “Professional Mr. Baek,” starring actors Yoon Shi Yoon and Yeo Jin Gu, has finally received a premiere date for April 3.
“Professional Mr. Baek” is about a famous professional golfer, Baek Se Jin (Yoon Shi Yoon) who loses everything after a drunk-driving accident and ends up becoming the golf instructor of a group of students at an island village school. “The golfer who came to play and was roped into being a teacher,” is how Baek Se Jin is described on the movie poster.
The movie will tell the story of the school’s six students, led by representative Lee Byung Joo (Yeo Jin Gu), described as “the unstoppable bad boy,” and their teacher Baek Se Jin, and the troubles they encounter in their quest to save the school from closing down.
Last week, we covered which Korean terms were essential for K-Pop fans to know. Now, we will cover the English terms, either words that seem English but have never been heard of before K-Pop and words that are English and you can pretty much tell what they mean. At the end, there is also a list of terms that are a fusion of both cultures! Korean words combined with English for a baby language. Check out the list below to become an even more knowledgeable fan.

This is something you"ll hear often (but may be pronounced like "hwaiting")! This isn"t a cheer telling people to fight each other, but rather to fight the circumstances. It is a supportive cheer, so when you want people to cheer up and do their best, you"ll say, "Fighting!" At times, this is accompanied by an arm movement where you bend your elbow so your arm is still vertical, form a fist, and then pull your elbow down a bit as you say it
Even though it cannot repeat the perfect score of last week, the duet “Some” between Soyu and Junggigo is No. 1 for the third straight week. This song just keeps piling up music show wins. Even before very strong competitions, this week “Some” still wins on KBS Music Bank. Odds don’t favor this song to be No. 1 again next week since we have a trio of major artists coming back and eyeing the top spot (more on that below). But “Some” has been incredibly durable in popularity and may surprise again next week.
We have five new songs in the top 10 this week. Just below “Some” is our highest new song. Moving up 17 spots to No. 2 is Sunmi’s new hit “Full Moon.” Last year, Sunmi successfully came back as a solo artist with the chart topping hit “24 Hours

Kim Soo Hyun makes even the smallest cameo shine like no other.
In the comedy film “Miss Granny,” Kim Soo Hyun makes a surprise cameo appearance as the young Mr. Park, played by actor Park In Hwan.
Until now, Kim Soo Hyun’s existence in the film was a sort of ending or spoiler, and the people who have seen the movie made sure to keep his cameo a secret, as if they would be ruining the movie otherwise. However, as the film broke the 8,000,000 viewer mark, the “Miss Granny” production publicly expressed their thanks to Kim Soo Hyun and revealed his cameo scene.
Director Hwang Dong Hyuk said, “We were looking for an actor who would match well with Doo Ri, played by Shim Eun Kyung, and we immediately thought of Kim Soo Hyun

I’ve now been promoted as the official penguin of the Soompi network, hence why I have that awesome “Le Penguin Officiel” tag in the comment section. Thanks to our dear leader, soomp, for that amazing addition. You should start seeing the other editors and writers on the team getting their own unique tags over the coming weeks.
Anyway first point of business for the official penguin is to discuss the age old question of when to call it quits, because nothing really lasts forever.

A significant portion of VIXX"s fans have come together to express their frustration and anger at the boys" management agency, Jellyfish Entertainment, even starting a petition and organizing a boycott of the group"s upcoming DVD.
It seems the latest event that triggered the fans to resort to such actions came from an article piece that a reporter previously wrote, discussing his treatment by the employees of Jellyfish Entertainment at a photo and interview session of VIXX. The reporter had detailed his or her account of the rudeness of the employees. Becoming aware of the post, fans seem to have become concerned that the rudeness of the employees not only affects fans, but can reflect badly on the boys of VIXX themselves. With this final straw, they set out to make themselves heard.
The fans state, "VIXX"s agency Jellyfish ask for unnecessary personal information, fan managers speak abusively towards fans, show poor hosting of the group"s showcase and fan club inauguration, and neglect the fan cafe and do not communicate with fans
I hope this movie is good, because the subject matter is so fascinating. Kim Kang-woo’s next project, Tabloid: Dangerous Rumor, is due out in theaters in a few weeks, and it’s about the real story behind celebrity scandals and who gets paid to release said stories at just the right time, all in an effort to turn the public’s attention away from something else.
The teaser introduces the subject of scandalous gossip, which in the Korean press is always headlined “Miss A caught doing this or that,” or “Mr. B revealed as such and such.” But the omniscient narrator tells us: “It’s not who A or B is that you should be curious about, but who made the rumors, how, and for what reason. And most importantly, why they were released.”
Kim Kang-woo stars as the manager to an actress who becomes the target of a gossip scandal
