Recap for SBS Drama Pinocchio Episode 4

By in News posted Oct November 21st, 2014 No comments

Okay, I seriously love this episode. I swear it’s not even because our hero finally gets a makeover (even though that’s worth a round of applause in and of itself—fare thee well, Mop of Shame!), but because the family stuff hits all the right chords. It’s an episode about fathers, and the kind of love that’s so steadfast that sometimes a reminder is a shock to the system—a poignant, tear-filled, affectionate shock.by DramabeansTiger J.K – “첫사랑” (First Love) for the Pinocchio OST

EPISODE 4: “Romeo and Juliet” We rewind a little to see that Dad finds the kids on the rooftop and hides out of sight, just in time to watch Dal-po try to stop In-ha’s day-long bout of hiccups, over having to lie that things went great with Mom and she’s totally fine giving up on journalism altogether

This is a really dense episode, packed with character revelations and plot twists that are actually revelatory and truthfully twisty, and even though it calls for every ounce of attention you can dedicate to it, it doesn’t fail to reward you for time well spent. So much happens this hour that it’s near impossible to sum it all up here, suffice to say that the time to reunite our dearest and most craziest of villains with his missing marbles has come and gone, along with any shot he might’ve had at redemption. He’s positivelyunhinged now, as opposed to just being functionally certifiable before. Don’t think there’s a difference? Wait and see.by DramabeansFaced with a possible traitor amongst them, Woo-jin turns to Dal-goo to ask why he did it, before revealing that he never thought Do-young was psychic and suspected he had an accomplice from the beginning

by Dramabean:

Agh, they’re so cuuuuute. Now that our backstory is in place, the second episode actually brings our leads together onscreen, and I’m happy to say that their dynamic is adorable—their bickering relationship is funny and heartfelt, and I really like both characters. It was impossible to tell from the first episode alone if the show would reel me in, but by the end of this hour, they’ve got me. Last-place student Dal-po wins his first round of the TV quiz show, wiping the smirk off of the first-place champion and surprising everyone in their class. As the audience claps and the cameras turn to him, he narrates in voiceover that after suffering those cruel events with his family, he vowed to never set foot in a broadcast station or exchange words with anyone even remotely associated with a network

Teacher Ahn is pleased at this sign that the boycott issue was resolved, while Teacher Do sniffs that an S Orchestra student is still going to fail, considering that judging will purely be based on ability.Yoo-jin and Nae-il arrive just in time for the first solo, recognizing Il-lac immediately. While he plays, Il-lac’s mind is full of Nae-il’s earlier reminder of everything Yoo-jin had done for them. In this case, Yoo-jin’s actions speak louder than his words (in that he offered no words). by Dramabeans: Yeongjo gives Sun a chance to be reinstated as prince-regent—all he has to do is meet the Qing envoys who are on their way and ready to declare war (over a naval skirmish with a Joseon fishing boat), and stop a war from happening. Oh, is that all?He makes it clear that taking on the task is a double-edged sword because if Sun succeeds, he does get to be regent again, but if he fails, he will forever be stripped of his rights to the regency. That means he’ll never practice politics ever again. Yeongjo makes sure to add that he won’t be lenient on him just because he’s his only son. I’m pretty sure no one here thought you would. But his point stings nonetheless—he’s happy to find a successor elsewhere. The extreme terms of the deal don’t dissuade Sun, and he agrees to take on the challenge to convince the Qing envoys without caving to their demands

by Dramabeans:Nae-il comes to Yoo-jin for comfort after running out on her lesson, where she was told Teacher Do would be her new instructor. She calms at the touch of his hand, but the effect is short-lived because Yoo-jin tells her that she needs a stern teacher to help her grow as a musician, and that she shouldn’t waste her talent. He takes a call from Teacher Do and says he’ll bring Nae-il in to her lesson, and, feeling betrayed, she withdraws her hand from his grasp.Nae-il cries that he’s just like everyone else for forcing her when that leads to tears and pain, but Yoo-jin replies that if everyone’s saying the same thing, then she’s the one who’s wrong. He’s not mean about it, but ouch, that seems a little tone-deaf to Nae-il’s stricken reaction. She sobs, “Not being able to do as I want—you don’t know what that’s like

by Couch-kimchi:A few details were revealed, we learned more about Yeol-Moo past. We also met her Mom, who is most likely crazy from grief and we learned the reason Yeol-Moo dropped Dong Chi but we’ll need more to understand why she thinks he’s a murderer. Ratings for this drama are strong, beating outSecret Door and Tomorrow’s Cantabile to remain #1 in its time slot. I’m gonna make a wild guess that part of it is due to the power of Baek Jin Hee again. Those of you who watched Empress Ki with me will remember the Korean audience being very vocal in their adoration of this actress, to the point that the script was changed to extend her part. I’m sure Choi Jin Hyuk is loved as well but the very tiny Baek Jin Hee has become a mighty draw on TV when she’s paired with a great script. All those pieces are falling into place with this drama, at least for now

by Dramabeans:It’s a grand entrance for a gorgeous woman, whom we’ll come to know as SA-RA (Han Ye-seul), who walks down a street and turns heads left and right with her stunning appearance. Everywhere she goes she attracts admiring glances and drops jaws; she explains that she’s an actress who’s just come back to Korea after working in the U.S. This makes sense to everyone who sees her, and she gets the royal treatment. She gets her fortune told by a face reader, who is awed by the interesting combination of fates she holds in her hands (er, face): Not only is she an uncommon beauty, she also has the fortune of a military general and might even save the nation. That is, if she steers clear of her two pitfalls: the need to get involved in matters, and bad guys.Sa-ra starts to clue into the uneasy feeling that she’s being followed, and this is how we get our introduction to HAN TAE-HEE (Joo Sang-wook, whose combination of dorky and heo-dang antics I have really missed, and love to see back in action here)

RECAP YO

YJ is furious- how dare she says San’s name? YJ begins to cry.

DH’s mother brings out the pictures of San, alive, healthy, and well. YJ’s hands shake as she looks as the pictures, and even DH can’t shake that expression off his face.

“There’s no way I wouldn’t know that San was living,” YJ cries, still half in denial. DH’s mom says that it was all for YJ and DH, that it would’ve been impossible for YJ to raise San, that it would’ve been impossible to do anything for San with that red string (indicating YJ’s criminal record) around her ankle. She says San is growing well, but YJ doesn’t want to hear her excuses.

“For someone who loves her own child so much… how could you do this? So what if he was born in jail? Can a mom still not love him? Can a mom not raise him alone?”

DH’s mom looks, for once, embarrassed

Kdrama "Answer Me 1994" Episode 7 Recap by DramaBeans

It’s a sweltering summer in 1994, and Na-jung has a new part-time job working the counter at a chicken and burger joint near campus. She’s surprisingly sharp and good with numbers, as she tells her customer the exact price difference between ordering his burgers and colas separately instead of as sets.

Someone pages her, and it turns out to be Chilbongie calling from baseball practice. He comes up with the adorably lame excuse that he felt like eating burgers, and wants to know if her store delivers.

She says he’d have to order something like twenty of them, and he happily orders fifty. Ermagerd, he’s so cute I can’t stand it.

So Na-jung and her co-worker (the computer science sunbae) head over to the field that night with fifty burgers in tow

After Chi-ho confesses his feelings to Shin-young right in front of San, San attempts to guard his territory by telling Chi-ho that he’ll pretend he never heard anything. Chi-ho: “It wasn’t said for you to hear.” Meooow.

San holds his and Shin-young’s interlocked hands up for Chi-ho to see. “This woman is in a relationship with me,” he all but growls. Chi-ho knows this well, but replies that San isn’t a suitable man for Shin-young, and San’s downcast eyes shows that he knows this well.

Shin-young stops Chi-ho from making a cool exit by slapping him across the face, chastising him for judging San so harshly, “That man is the best man I know!”

But Chi-ho has an admittedly fair retort: “When it comes to judging people wrongly, you’re the same in the way you judge me

Basketball EPISODE 5 RECAP By Dramabeans

Everyone’s in shock after Shin-young and Chi-ho’s wedding announcement, but no one more than San, who decides to go against his arrogant coach’s wishes and play the game with all he’s got.

Daddy Choi leaves feeling quite proud of himself, confident that the first score won in the game was won by Chi-ho. It’s Secretary Kim who breaks the news that it was someone from their team, causing Daddy Choi to start making his way back toward the court out of curiosity. Who could be giving the great Min Chi-ho a run for his money?

It’s none other than San, whom we see racing across the court with his teammates, sinking basket after basket. Bong-soon is adorably supportive as she gives the awed crowd San’s name so they can cheer for him: “Kang San! Min Chi-ho’s newest rival!”

The game gets fierce, and I mean fierce, when Chi-ho gets his head back into the game to take San head on

Recap: “We Got Married” – It’s Not Easy Being a Virtual Wife

By in News posted Oct November 5th, 2014 No comments

After months of hiatus, the Soompi “We Got Married“ recaps are back with a look at the current husbands of the show: Song Jae Rim, Hong Jong Hyun, and Namgoong Min. Now let’s take a look at the lovely ladies, Girls’ Day‘s Yura, Kim So Eun, and Hong Jin Young, who have the – honor? Pleasure? Burden? – of being their virtual wives.

Poor Yura, she is trying so hard. We already covered that her husband needs to work on his affection and expressions, and he has improved a lot, but Yura is trying so hard to take the relationship to the next level. I’m not sure what the next level looks like, but I think it would be something that is a little more comfortable with a little more skinship

[Original Feature] Then and Now: T-ara

By in News posted Oct September 23rd, 2014 No comments

T-ara first took the K-pop world by storm in 2009. Having trained for 3 years, they were initially called the "Super Rookies" and later adopted the name T-ara. They were originally a quintet before they lost two members over creative differences, and Boram, Soyeon, and Qri joined the group. They quickly became known for slow songs such as "Lies" and "Good Person," and showed an impressive vocal range, creating soulful ballads layered with catchy, sincere-sounding raps.

T-ara debuted with a handful of singles, including a collaboration with the boy band Supernova, "TTL (Time to Love)," which became both bands" first chart-topper. Due to the popularity of "TTL," a second collaboration with Supernova spawned "TTL Listen 2," before the girls released their one and only full album (all their other releases in the Korean market are mini-albums), "Absolute First Album
