Lee Ki-kwang and Lee Da-in’s “Twenty Years Old” to be airing on tvN

By in News posted Oct January 7th, 2014 No comments

This is an interesting model for drama production, though obviously a limited case. Four-episode miniseries Twenty Years Old starring idol actor Lee Ki-kwang (Me Too, Flower!) and rookie actress Lee Da-in was produced as a “mobile drama,” basically as an online short in four twenty-minute segments. And now after a successful run online, it’s being re-released so to speak, and getting a chance to air on television as a two-part special on cable network tvN.

Lee Ki-kwang stars as an idol (so, himself) who reconnects with an old classmate from junior high, only now at twenty he’s an unapproachable top star. Lee Da-in (she’s Lee Yubi’s little sister and Kyun Mi-ri’s daughter, in her acting debut) plays the classmate who had a crush on him even when he was just a regular nobody

They decide to play rock-paper-scissors for room choosing privileges, and maknae Mi-yeon wins. Uh… is this a thing to be happy about?

javabeans: I’m cracking up because the choosing order turns out to be the reverse of the age order.

girlfriday: It is against the laws of nature.

javabeans: Yeo-jung says, “Go ahead and choose comfortably, really, I’m fine”… but she seems to be holding her breath over the answer

Tablo: “I Wish My Father Was Here to See Haru Smile”

By in News posted Oct December 31st, 2013 No comments

Epik High member Tablo recently opened up about his late father.

In the latest episode of “Superman Returns,” the artist and his daughter Haru visited the cemetery. Tablo’s father sadly passed away in March last year after a lengthy battle with cancer. While paying a visit to her grandfather’s grave, Haru placed a beautiful flower bouquet on the stone and showed him a handmade card with her favorite fish drawn on it. Even though she could not see her grandfather, Haru directed her heartwarming words at the sky, hoping that he will hear what she has to say.

During an interview with the producers, Tablo could not hold back his emotions, “I miss him the most whenever I have good news. I call my relatives when ‘Superman Returns’ airs, and I also want to call my father and my father-in-law, but I can’t call my father

For Jae Hak and Eun Jin; they know they cannot hide their relationship forever; they’re not naive but obviously they don’t realize that Mi Kyung has already found out about their “humane relationship”. People say the quiet ones usually are the ones who’ll attack and cause extensive damages; so they’d better get ready because Mi Kyung will do anything she can to “torture” them.

“Empress Ki” – Recap Week 4 (Episode 7 - 8) by Couch-Kimchi:

I’m continually amazed at the story progression and the pace of this drama – things move quickly. That suits me just fine – I hate repetition, flashbacks upon flashbacks, long silent staring and no character development. Having said that, I don’t expect much just yet – it’s still very early.
In episode 7, our creepy brother Ki-Se “smells” that Ki is a woman and rips open her shirtt. He orders her dressed and brought to his tent, while Byung-Soo stares at Ki like he can’t believe it. Two of the Goryeo slaves are brought in to dress her up and apply make-up. She’s brought to Ki-Se’s quarters and he’s momentarily speechless at her beauty. She’s forced to her knees, her hands tied.

Ki immediately scouts the room, finding the location of the cross-bows

Mi-rae’s Choice: Episode 15 RECAP by Drama Beans

Se-joo belatedly reveals himself to be Mi-rae’s savior, explaining that he simply wanted to approach her as a man, nothing more. With that, he asks her to accept his feelings. At her silence, he slips the ring on to her finger and hugs her.

Having signed the contract, Shin shows up to work at NTN the next day. He overhears a few employees arguing, but the pretty VP tells him not to worry about it and leads him into his swanky new office.

Se-joo hits yet another roadblock in his plans, so he seeks Grandma’s help with acquiring investments. She notices the ring on his finger (couple rings, perhaps?) and agrees to help, on the grounds that he marries the girl of her choice

Tan kicks the door furiously, yelling at YD to open the door before he kills him.Inside, ES asks YD to open the door. YD replies, “When I said I would torture all those around you, it included Kim Tan. And me.”Tan finally kicks the door open, and telling ES to get out, punches YD. I noticed here that YD has pushed ES behind him so she doesn’t get hurt, knowing Tan is going to beat him up. Tan picks up a chair to hit Young Do, but ES desperately grabs Tan’s waist to stop him. “Don’t do this.” Meanwhile, YD never fights back, steps back, or drops his gaze from ES.Tan throws the chair down and pushes ES outside. “Don’t come in.” Tan grabs YD’s collar and seethes, “I warned you not to bother ES

Single folks find love in tvN rom-com Let’s Eat

By in News posted Oct November 12th, 2013 No comments

What a cute teaser concept for Let’s Eat, the cutely named tvN romantic comedy series starring Lee Soo-kyung (I Summon You Gold) and Yoon Doo-joon (IRIS 2). (In Korean, the title is purposely misspelled to be slangy.) The show looks cute and bright, based on the previews, intermingling love and food with a nice dash of humor sprinkled in. It also happens to be right on-trend with foodie TV shows all the rage these days.

I was intrigued when I first learned of the show because it sounded like it would be taking a fresh approach to the drama format — the producers previously worked on the long-running cable series Rude Miss Young-ae, which mixed mockumentary styling with its (totally scripted) plots.Lee Soo-kyung plays a woman with a proud, confident air… until she’s in front of food and then all bets are off

Kdrama "Mi Rae’s Choice" Episode 7 Recap

The episode opens up with Shin walking up on a Se Joo and Mi Rae moment. He turns to a corner with disappointment on his face. He dwells on it a little and decides to call out to them to join the others. Se Joo gets up first and Shin gives Se Joo a pat on the arm for his hard work and thanks him for his quick thinking on the water tank. Se Joo quietly accepts his appreciation and goes inside.

Yoo Kyung arrives at the scene where PD Lee warmly invites her to sit beside him but she has her target locked on the space beside Se Joo and writer Bae, LOL. She bites her lips and calculates in her head how she is going to get to that space for a moment. Then very un-subtly, she points at writer Bae going, “There! That!” as she bulldozers her way through the boys and sits right in the middle of Se Joo and writer Bae
