“Master’s Sun” Episode 2

 “Master’s Sun” Episode 2

I wonder how many more hugs it will take for Joong Won to move past his discomfort long enough to sense her desperation. When will his ego realize she isn’t clinging to him out of attraction and more out of urgency for rest and peace. Is he blind? It sort of makes you wonder just how much darker do they need to get for him to notice those dark circles mean she is in dire need of sleep. Even after just two episodes, we know enough backstory to get that Gong Sil has her work cut out for her. Getting this guy ready for any sort of intimacy like hugging is going to take a small miracle. That’s why it’s a good thing that she is the type to go ahead and do it first and make excuses later. I love how she takes every opportunity to touch him even though she knows full well how much he hates it. Not that anyone can blame her – given a choice between slightly offending someone and having to deal with more ghosts, I’m surprised she hasn’t started stalking his home. All this time he has been pushing her away, but the preview clearly showed a change in his demeanor. He seems to have finally come to some sort of realization about her. For the first time as he held her in his arms, I think the truth was finally sinking in. That her fear is genuine and her belief that he is the only one who can keep her safe might just be for real.

Mi-rae’s Choice: Episode 8 Recap RECAP

Se-joo poses a hypothetical scenario (which we know to be the truth) to Shin: what if he was the head of YBS? Amused by Shin’s answer that he would beg on his knees for forgiveness, he scornfully remarks that this must be Shin’s true nature: to stomp on the weak and cower to the powerful.

Shin suggests that he seek professional help for his delusion, but Se-joo says he’s seen plenty of self-deception among the employees: those who think themselves celebrities when they’re not, others who believe they’ll always receive paychecks. Now he sees that there are times when he must prune the branches away. Se-joo leaves and puts in a call to move up his plans.

Kdrama ‘Secret Love’ Episode 16 Recap (FINAL)

YJ is furious- how dare she says San’s name? YJ begins to cry.

DH’s mother brings out the pictures of San, alive, healthy, and well. YJ’s hands shake as she looks as the pictures, and even DH can’t shake that expression off his face.

“There’s no way I wouldn’t know that San was living,” YJ cries, still half in denial. DH’s mom says that it was all for YJ and DH, that it would’ve been impossible for YJ to raise San, that it would’ve been impossible to do anything for San with that red string (indicating YJ’s criminal record) around her ankle. She says San is growing well, but YJ doesn’t want to hear her excuses.

By the fall of 1994, the big story in pop culture news is whether or not Seo Taiji tapes played backwards contains a message from the devil. You laugh, but for those of us who were forced to start hiding cassette tapes from reactive mothers, it was no joke.

Samcheonpo makes the deadly mistake of getting into an argument about it with Yoon-jin, and gets strangled for it, naturally.

Tan ends up back at the empty apartment, the last place he saw Eun Sang, smiling back at him. He remembers what Dad said to him after the meeting- “Don’t forget this day. You lost that child today as the consequence of the sword you wielded.” Tears start to fall silently out of Tan’s eyes first, but as the sobs rise in his chest, Tan pants for breath and he falls on his knees. He clutches his chest as he cries.

“Secret” – Recap Week 5 by Couch-Kimchi

This week was amazing! It begins where we left on last week, with Min Hyuk grabbing Yoo Jung by the shoulders and yelling at her. Do Hoon actually has the nerve to try pulling Min Hyuk away from Yoo Jung. Pffttt, this guy. He can’t help her up from the floor but now he’s interfering just to make sure Min Hyuk doesn’t know anything. Jerk. He tells Yoo Jung to go. Min Hyuk yells for her to NOT go. He tells Do Hoon never to give orders to this woman in front of him. *fist pump*

“Secret” – Week 6 Recap by Couch-Kimchi:

Another tense week! This writer may be a rookie but she definitely knows what she’s doing. I learned the writer for the synopsis is Choi Ho Chul and the main script writer is Yoo Bo Ra. (thanks so much, @cynkdf!) The dialogue is refreshingly clear and sensible, which is amazing. I love each episode more than the previous, which is rare for me in K-drama watching.

Min Hyuk goes searching for Yoo Jung at the bakery. He runs inside, calling “Substitute” and then calls out her full name. He hears a noise. He opens a bedroom door to see her sitting on the floor, banging her head repeatedly against the wall. He puts his hand between her head and the wall but she sobs harder. He pulls her into his arms and just holds her while she cries out.

Empress Ki: Episode 1 - 2 Recap

Empress Ki: Episode 1 - 2 Recap

Empress Ki: Episode 1 – 2 recap by daebakdramas

Empress Ki/Hwatu/기황후 started last week after MBC’s previous sageuk drama (and sadly snooze-fest) “Goddess of Fire Jung Yi”. I consider this a one-off recap for now since Empress Ki will be 50 episodes long and I don’t know if I can hold out that long… Sageuks in general tend to lose me after the first 16 episodes. However the three main actors are strong leads (love Ha Ji Won) so perhaps this will fare better than “Goddess of Fire”… Which didn’t even have a great ending. Oh well, at least Kim Bum got the girl in real life.

“Empress Ki” – Recap Week 3 (Episode 5 - 6)

“Empress Ki” – Recap Week 3 (Episode 5 – 6) by Couch-Kimchi:

As I suspected, the light humorous stuff is over and we’re heading into darker territory. I thoroughly enjoyed the time Ki spent with our petulant, whiny Ta Hwan but I guess it was time to move the story forward. (LOL) Speaking of, this drama moves very quickly – there is no time wasted with meaningless fluff. I hope we’re able to keep that up for 50 episodes? Pray with me.
Ki wakes up in the forest to discover Ta Hwan is gone. She frantically runs around looking only to discover he’s been caught in a trap and is hanging by one ankle upside-down. LMAO! He begs her to cut him down, promising that he won’t run off again. These two fight all the time – it’s hilarious. She ties him to her so he can’t run while he continues to protest that if they return to Goryeo, they’ll both die. She think the Goryeo King Wang Yoo will be able to protect them. Ummm…

Beautiful Man/Pretty Man (Bel Ami) Episode 4 Recap

Beautiful Man/Pretty Man (Bel Ami) Episode 4 Recap

Sorry this has come so late, Thanksgiving weekend had me kind of busy. Hopefully there will be no more delays this week. We peak more into Electric Fairy’s persona life and see that even she isn’t immune to Ma Te’s prettiness. Episode 4 Recap by k-dramacentra:After telling Ma Te his next mission is to read mission, Yu Ra says that Electric Fairy is a fake and manipulates people by reading them. He thinks she’s joking, but she tells him he needs to learn from her. Electric Fairy is sitting across from her and Yu Ra wants to know the reason she came. She tells Yu Ra that she will become very powerful and successful with Ma Te by her side. Then turns around and says in return for that success, her daughter will die before she’s 12 if she keeps Ma Te near her. Yu Ra is visibly upset even though she’s saying she doesn’t believe in such things. Electric Fairy tells her that whether she’s real or not isn’t important, but now she’s thinking about her daughter. Every time she sees Ma Te’s face, she’ll have the image of her daughter dying. Yu Ra wants to know why she’s telling her this, but she just says she’s telling what she sees. Electric Fairy smiles as she leaves and we see she’s woman #2 that Ma Te must conquer.
Bo Tong is talking to Ma Te about his marriage and says she’s going to become a ghost ending then he says she’ll be successful(a play on words). She tells him she’s going to sell the socks at Home Shopping network since she knows someone who works there, he thinks she’s crazy and even more for believing some weird guy. Bo Tong says she remembers some guy convinced her to do a close out sale a few days ago. Ooh! Ouch! Ma Te says that David has ulterior motives for helping her despite her looks. Ma Te wants to meet David now.
Bo Tong meets David and asks is he sure they can sell the socks as cleaning products, he seems confident and says they just need the materials. Bo Tong tells him she needs to ask Ma Te since he’s very busy. David says that out of the busy men, 90% of them are bad. Bo Tong says no, her oppa is just pretty. David jokes then that makes it 100%. She wants them to meet and David agrees. Ma Te is a little frustrated that he has to see Electric Fairy, mainly because she’s seen his face so now he needs to do something new. Cue to him walking into her place and all the women literally gasp at the sight of him. He’s glowing all with a new haircut. The employees give him a buzzer while staring at him. He says he doesn’t need a buzzer, but when they tell her she’s got a visitor she instructs them to tell him to wait 2 hours until she’s finished. She hands him a buzzer without taking her eyes off of him. Her turns around and all the women are staring at him. Later, he wakes up to find himself leaning on a woman’s shoulder while she’s stroking his face. She tells him to call her aunt. He goes in and sees Electric Fairy and she notes that the wedding was cancelled, he blames her for that happening. Ma Te tells her she’s a fake and things she says don’t make sense. He asks her if it’s fun, she counters that and wonders if Yu Ra told him this and he’s immature as a result. Ma Te cuts to the chase, he doesn’t care of she’s real or not, he just wants to learn from her. While he’s speaking, she starts looking at his face in sections, admiring it. Uh-oh, looks like she’s fallen. She snaps herself out of it and tells him his 3 minute consultation is up and that will cost him $500, but says since Jaek Hee broke up with him then he has no one to get money from so he should go. She calls in the next customer then fans herself after he’s gone.

Afterwards, Ma Te meets with Yu Ra who asks how it went. He wonders if she really is fake because she seems real for Jaek Hee to totally depend on her. Yu Ra thinks back to Electric Fairy’s warning then appears upset and repeats that she’s a fake and uses a person’s mentality to pretend. Ma Te asks why she’s getting so angry and says that even then she’s not going to be an easy person to crack. Yu Ra knows that she won’t just tell him her secret. He figures if he doesn’t win her heart then she won’t budge, Yu Ra says that isn’t the point. She an Electric Woman and he’s Dokgo Ma Te. Yu Ra asks about the socks and before he can answer, Bo Tong calls him to meet her. Bo Tong and Ma Te walk into the Home Shopping building to meet David. He is offended when Bo Tong says that everyone she spoke to said the socks were out of style, but is reminded that he had said that too. He casually says that if you nurture money well then it will grow. She’s amazed that he said that, but he walks away. She gestures like she’s going to hit him until he catches it and she acts like she’s giving him something by handing him a notebook with suits that will look good on him for his upcoming wedding. She’s delighted to find out that it was cancelled.

David shows up and asks Bo Tong if she’s eaten, she says just ramyun and he says she should be eating rice. As they’re laughing, it bothers Ma Te and he clears throat to make his presence known. As they’re shaking hands it’s very obvious both are jealous over the other one.
David and Bo Tong have an entire routine to show how the good the socks are at cleaning. They really are the same person. Hahaha. David burns his foot trying to clean up coffee with his foot. He sets his foot in ice water and Ma Te doesn’t wait to insult. He says that they should go for Gag Concert, but David counters that he doesn’t have any ideas so how is he going to run a business. David says it’s a waste and says naivete when Ma Te asks what. Bo Tong comes in with more ice and is told she needs to fax him the business contract and have a to get a credit evaluation. Bo Tong says they don’t have have it so it’s not possible. Ma Te leaves upset that Bo Tong didn’t look into these things. Well you certainly weren’t trying. Bo Tong asks if it really isn’t possible and he repeats Ma Te’s words that he’s just a lowly md with no real power. She leaves looking dejected and walks out to see that Ma Te is leaving her. David sees and offers her a ride.
In his car, Ma Te says he should have never trusted Bo Tong and that David will always be an office worker. Says the unemployed gold digger, nice. David and Bo Tong pull up to the light next to Ma Te but don’t notice him. He sees them talking and then turns.

Yu Ra mets Moon Soo at the Droptop Cafe and she says Hong Ran won’t be happy knowing he’s meeting with her. He asks if she’s okay and if she’d like to manage the cafe they’re in. She doesn’t want to, but he reassures her that it’s not bought through MG Group, but through the previous owner. She still doesn’t want to because Hong Ran will make things worse, but Moon Soo insists saying his father bought it for her so she can have a stable life. Hmm So Mommy Dearest orchestrated the entire divorce. It’s clear Moon Soo stil loves her.
In the car, Bo Tong is upset over the sock issue and worries that Ma Te will get wrinkles from worrying so much. David takes the blame saying he should have checked, but he thought they already had that prepared. He then gets an idea and says they can always sell the socks under an existing subcontract. Bo Tong wonders why he’s just now saying this and he replies that he just thought of it. Unfortunately, they’re turned down by everyone but one. The man says that he is hesitant because he heard David may get fired. This alarms Bo Tong, but he assures her it’s not happening.
Electric Fairy is in her lair when two of her employees come in to ask if they can get off and she says yes. Before they leave she wonders if there any male callers and she’s disappointed there weren’t any. The women go outside to leave and say how they feel bad for her since she doesn’t date and must be lonely. Then one says who would want to date her. She comes outside for air when she spots Ma Te posing in the rain waiting for her. He asks if she could teach him her methods for reading minds she says that she’s a shaman and there are no methods. She speaks with the gods, so he notes that since she’s real then there isn’t anything to teach. He then asks her if she can let him go on like this. Pfft! She simply tells him to buy some cold medicine on his way home and goes back in. Ha! Turns out he’s been there for 2 hours. Really? Electric Fairy is trying to read, but is distracted by the image of Ma Te in the rain. We then see a flashback of her meeting with Hong Ran who asks her to remove Ma Te from Yu Ra’s side with a nice compensation in exchange.

Ma Te got sick and then regrets not buying the medicine. He calls his blonde friend who is too busy clubbing with women to come by.
Bo Tong is with David and is very apologetic because she has put him through a lot. Then it seems ike they have another idea when she calls Ma Te to tell him. She asks him if he’s sick since he sounds like he has a fever, he says yes and hangs up. Bo Tong asks David to take her by a store to pick up some medicine. To her surprise, he’s still waiting outside and drops her off at Ma Te’s. She makes him porridge and nearly burns him when she feeds him. He looks like a big ol’ baby. As he sleeps, she’s staring at him asking herself how can he be this beautiful. She ends up missing the last bus so she finds a spa to sleep at. Bo Tong is worried that she won’t be sleep since she’s sensitive, but ends up knocking out fast. We then see a woman steal her watch, from the surveillance, she knows her clothes and wallet were also stolen. The security guard can’t do much but give her the video so she can go to the police. He suggests she call someone, she doesn’t call Ma Te since he’s sick. She ends up scolding her finger for finding David’s number and calling him. Next thing we see him laughing at her in the car. He brought her his smallest size clothes since the stores weren’t open yet. She mumbles “this isn’t how you wear your boyfriend”. He then offers a place for her to stay at for a while saying it will be cheap. She says she’ll think about it and come by after she changed.

Ma Te paces back and forth thinking of ways to break Electric Fairy’s shell when he goes to her place and literally pulls her out of a session. He announces the place is closed right and drags her outside. She’s upset saying those people made appointments and need help, he wonders why she’s so concerned about others while making herself miserable. He tells her to have fun for a day, she’s been cooped up in that place for 3 years. She gets in the car and even while they’re walking, she’s cold and shuts him down every time. He picks her up so she can dunk a basketball and she’s freaked out. Ma Te gets a call from her alarmed staff. Turns out someone messed up her parents’ food cart and they’re shaken. Her parents are mute and Ma Te has a hard time communicating. After he drops them off at home, her parents tell her to invite him in for dinner. she doesn’t want to, but he feigns hunger pangs and they escort him inside. Her mother wonders if the food is to his taste, but she says don’t worry about him. Ma Te says it’s good. Miss Fairy asks her parents why they were out there like that, isn’t the money she sends them enough? They defend themselves saying that it’s not about money, they give their food out for free to passersby and the elderly. The people love their dubbokki. She says that she didn’t know if anything happened to them. Mom worries if her friend aka Ma Te is feeling awkward since he doesn’t know sign language. They motion for him to keep eating and then ask if he’s her boyfriend since he’s good looking. She’s quick to deny it and she lies saying they want him to eat and leave, He knows it’s a lie since they’re smiling at him. As he picks up an egg, he gets emotional saying that he hasn’t had home cooked food in a while and it reminds him of his mother.

When Ma Te drops Electric Fairy off, she’s thankful but tells him he can stop trying so hard. He forgets she can read people and says to get rid of Yu Ra in his eyes. He pulls her face closer to his and asks if she can really see Yu Ra there. It catches her off guard, but she manages to keep her composure until he leaves. Moon Soo is in his office when Hong Ran comes in and asks why he gave Yu Ra a cafe in a golden area. He lies and says that he wanted to show off his power before she kicks him out since he’s not sure when that will be. This is after he acknowledges her hand in their divorce. His smile fades as she leaves. We see her looking uneasy and asks her assistant to look into a place for Sool Ri to study abroad. He looks uneasy about this, but complies. She then calls Yu Ra to tell her the news. Yu Ra says she’s only 6, but Hong Ran doesn’t care. Yu Ra is shaken after that.

Bo Tong is at David’s house to give him galbi from her place and has a second tub for Ma Te. Ma Te is shocked to see Yu Ra outside the door and sees she’s crying. He asks what’s wrong, he catches her as she falls. Bo Tong is heading to give him the galbi and sees him holding Yu Ra.

Variety Roulette: Rain Effect

Variety Roulette: Rain Effect

I totally wasn’t intending to write up the brand-new reality show Rain Effect, but I fired up the first episode out of curiosity and immediately got sucked into its fun, funny vibe. (Trust me, I wasn’t looking for another thing to recap!) It’s been a while since we’ve done a Variety Roulette; nothing like a little Rain to merit a comeback.

These kinds of reality-docu shows aren’t by any means new, but it’s not often you get one with a star as big as Rain. (And I’m sure I’m not the only one who had a brief flash to the Jeon Ji-hyun character doing one in the newly premiered drama You From Another Star.) True, he hasn’t been as big in recent years as he once was at the height of his pop-star fame (the mid-2000s were SO all about Rain), even if you factor for his two-year army-duty absence, but he’s certainly achieved enough to have solidified his place as a lasting star in the K-pop firmament.

Rain Shows Special Love for His Pet on ‘Rain Effect’

Rain just keeps on showing more and more sides to himself on Mnet’s Rain Effect.

December 26’s broadcast of Rain Effect will show Rain making his way home after finishing his tour in Japan.

Even though he was exhausted, Rain took his time to take care of his dogs cleaning after their mess all around the house.

The episode will also feature the filming site of Hollywood movie The Prince, showing Rain working hard to memorize his lines in English and monitoring his action scenes.

[Drama Review] "High School: Love On" - Episode 1

[Drama Review]

An angel decides to save a teen”s life and ends up mortal in this comedy-drama.

The angel, who adopts the name Lee Seul Bi thanks to an amalgam of magazines that she spots, has the thankless task of guiding the spirits of the recently deceased. When she turns mortal (presumably by saving the student), she acts very much like someone unfamiliar with humanity or even with a corporeal form: She doesn”t have a name or address. She doesn”t know about eating. She speaks to everyone in banmal (informal speech). She doesn”t know what it is to be ill. She expresses wonder when being rained on. And she experiences dejection for the first time. She also enjoys K-dramas 😀
