[OP-ED] K-Pop Car Accidents: Why They Happen and How They Can Be Stopped

By in News posted Oct September 5th, 2014 No comments

Earlier this week, Ladies" Code was involved in a car accident that shocked the K-Pop community--not because celebrities getting into car accidents is an uncommon thing, unfortunately, but because someone finally lost their life to a repeated problem; someone paid the price for somebody else"s mistakes.

That someone is EunB, a young girl in her 20s who, just a few days ago, was struggling to start her career as a K-Pop idol. That somebody else is the world of K-Pop itself, and the harsh, fast-paced system it has in place. As a K-Pop fan who has watched these idols herded about at such high risk for years now, I find it upsetting how, because of such a system, a tragedy like this was not prevented.

It"s common K-Pop knowledge by now that entertainment companies overwork their idols to death

EDITORIAL: How Idols Spend Chuseok — Work vs Play

By in News posted Oct September 5th, 2014 No comments

Chuseok, a huge harvest festival in Korea, is around the corner! Typically, the nation gets 3 days of break for the festive season. This year, Chuseok Day falls on September 8, and this year is an exception, as the South Koreans are given a 5-day long weekend (Sept 6 - Sept 10) for this holiday.

While most South Koreans get a good rest during Chuseok and have the opportunity to visit their hometowns and family members, it may not be the same for those working in the entertainment industry. Most of the artistes in the industry are busy with their schedules during Chuseok, and only some lucky ones get some time off to rest for a moment. In general, singers who are currently active in their promotions do not get a chance to enjoy the long weekend.

After coming back with their 7th album “MAMACITA”, Super Junior is now even busier as they are also preparing for their world tour

What"s the best thing to do on the weekend when there"s no school? Why not marathon a few of your favorite k-dramas that take place in a school setting?

Recently, we asked our Facebook fans which school dramas they liked and we got a list that included some of our favorites too.

Here are the ones we love best and why. No need to take notes. There won"t be a quiz later. We will be busy marathoning.

It"s a classic: "Boys Over Flowers" has it all, a spunky heroine, played by Gu Hye Sun and four of the most attractive high school students in the history of k-drama. It all takes place in the rich kids" school but while the privileged few start out with an edge they soon learn that money can"t buy love. And Lee Min Ho is in it

The Lee Jong Suk And Suzy Bae Dating Rumors

By in News posted Oct September 5th, 2014 No comments

Lee Jong Suk insists that he is not dating miss A singer and actress Suzy Bae. It would be nearly impossible because he never met her.

So, how did this dating rumor happen?

It started with an online post claiming that the Dispatch had photos of the actors together and that they would be released the next day. The rumors naturally spread because the Dispatch is well known for outing dating stars and the celebrities in question are very popular.

But the rumors were not true. The next morning the Dispath denied them saying that they would only be posting photographs of an old photo shoot of Suzy"s.

But now that the rumors existed the agencies of both stars felt it necessary to deny them.

A representative from Wellmade Entertainment said that they had confirmed that Lee Jong Suk did not know the actress personally
