HIGH SCHOOL: LOVE ON, EPISODE 9

Seul Bi tries to console Woo Hyun

RECAP
Seul Bi walks away with Sunbae and at the last minute, stops and tells him she"s not going back. She takes Woo Hyun back to the shop, but all he does is sleep. Later that night, Seul Bi talks to Sunbae, asking to see Grandma one more time. He says it"s beyond his power. Sung Yeol sees her talking to apparently thin air and asks her who she was talking to. Obviously, she tells him nothing. Friends visit the shop the next morning, but nothing rouses Woo Hyun. Sung Yeol comes by; he and Seul Bi look at recipes, prepare food together, and share a moment. Then two loan sharks burst into the shop and start ransacking the place. Apparently Woo Hyun"s father used the shop as collateral for a high-interest loan, but didn"t pay it back

Models Turned K-Drama Actors: Male Edition

By in News posted Oct September 30th, 2014 No comments

So many dramas seem to feature a scene in which the actors take a long leisurely stroll toward their goal, which is usually the woman they are about to confess their feelings to. It often looks as if the actors are strolling down the catwalk. But there"s a reason for that. So many k-drama actors started out as models and their long lanky good looks are part of the appeal.

A good example is the scene in "Personal Taste" where Lee Min Ho finally decides to tell Son Ye Jin that it"s "game over." He took so long to stroll over to her that viewers got a good look at every detail of the glossy suit he wore.

Models becoming actors is not a new trend. Song Seung Hoon, So Ji Sub, Cha Seung Won and Hyun Bin also started out as models. So did Jang Geun Suk, who began modeling as a child

"My Lovely Girl" Is A Big Hit In China

Rain and Krystal"s drama "My Lovely Girl" is doing well among Chinese viewers.

SBS"s Wednesday-Thursday drama "My Lovely Girl" is raking in impressive views from Chinese audiences, as reflected in the show"s viewership from two of China"s largest video-hosting sites, Youku and Tudou.

It was reported "My Lovely Girl" received over 7.5 million views in its first day of broadcast, reaching more than 40 million views within its first ten days. As of writing, it is the most viewed Korean drama, and the third most viewed drama in China.

This shows that "My Lovely Girl" surpassed the hit dramas "Man From The Star" and "It"s Okay, It"s Love" when it comes to viewership for its first few days.

On the average, a Korean drama would reach around 150 million views over its broadcast period, and with the rising numbers of the viewers of "My Lovely Girl" for its first episodes, it would be no surprise if the drama reaches this figure soon

Idol TV and Why You Need to Tune In

Idol TV and Why You Need to Tune In Written by Nabeela On September 26, 2014

I’m not a big drama fan, and it’s hard for me to follow weekly variety. When it comes to commitment to entertainment in general, serials are a greased pig, and I am the sad, desperate little woman just trying to hold on.

But perhaps my one of favorite things to watch is idol TV. The beauty of idol TV is that its mostly non-committal, as in there’s no serious story line one has to follow, and it’s utterly brainless, meaning you can just watch and enjoy. No emotional investment into unrealistically good looking chefs, spies, bosses, no dramatic plot twists that have you rewriting plotlines into fan fiction gold, no idol whose acting is just about as entertaining as the DMV. Idol TV is an arena for candidness, inconsistency, and overall goofiness that opens up any viewer to a whole new and organic side to the idols you already hate to love and love to hate

[HanCinema"s Drama Review] “Blade Man” Episode 4

By in News posted Oct September 25th, 2014 No comments

Storywise, the elements are piling up to flesh out an interesting backstory. Hong-bin"s father may not have always been the monster he seems to be. His mother is a scarily stern woman who could be the mastermind behind the family, and Lee Mi-sook as Madam Yoon who runs Hong-bin"s household and has a connection to his father. It"s a broken fraternity that means little now save for the fact that there is tragedy in the family that has harmed Hong-bin and his teenaged brother Hong-joo.

Lee Dong-wook and Sin Se-kyeong are performing well. On occasion they overact and that pulls the scene out of the moment. For Lee it is when he gets angry and he grimaces. At first it fit perfectly with the caricature of a man he was, but as he is fleshed out as a character, it becomes too much. For Shin it is when she is trying to portray light-hearted happiness - it seems forced on occasion

T-ara first took the K-pop world by storm in 2009. Having trained for 3 years, they were initially called the "Super Rookies" and later adopted the name T-ara. They were originally a quintet before they lost two members over creative differences, and Boram, Soyeon, and Qri joined the group. They quickly became known for slow songs such as "Lies" and "Good Person," and showed an impressive vocal range, creating soulful ballads layered with catchy, sincere-sounding raps.

T-ara debuted with a handful of singles, including a collaboration with the boy band Supernova, "TTL (Time to Love)," which became both bands" first chart-topper. Due to the popularity of "TTL," a second collaboration with Supernova spawned "TTL Listen 2," before the girls released their one and only full album (all their other releases in the Korean market are mini-albums), "Absolute First Album

Series Overview: Fated to Love You is a Bundle of Laughter and Tears Written by Joyce On September 20, 2014

On the back of the finale of Fated to Love You, I’d like to say that the show will stay in my memory as the drama with the best character interpretations. It features the reunion of Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara, who starred together in Successful Story of a Bright Girl ten years ago. While Fated‘s plot is nothing out of the ordinary, the characters are really what steal the show and cement it as one of my favourite dramas ever.

If you’ve seen the Taiwanese version, you’d have a good sense of the plot – a one night stand, a pregnancy, a forced marriage, and then, a miscarriage. Cue angst with a capital ‘a’

"My Lovely Girl" - Episode 2

Washing the dog

RECAP
Se Na, having been fired from her hotel job, goes and gets another job at a lunch place, delivering take-out on a scooter. During a delivery, she runs into Shi Woo and spurns his advances. Hyun Wook continually calls her for take-out, having bought a house in Seoul. Both of them, of course, know this is a ruse to see her every day, leading to some funny and charming scenes. Hae Yoon hits on Hyun Wook during a housewarming party, but he just assumes she"s drunk and pushes her away.

That night, Hyun Wook sees Se Na getting chased by thugs. Trying to help her escape, he saves her from getting mowed down by a truck with an improperly set parking brake. She gets fired because the thugs come by the shop, too, so Hyun Wook hires Se Na to be his dog sitter

It’s Okay, That’s Love, Episodes 5-8: Couples, Consent and Coitus Written by Alolika On September 19, 2014

“They did it! They did it! They did it!! Yeah!”

But I am not rejoicing because “it” – my juvenile euphemism for “sex” – was the most anticlimactic resolution to Hae-soo’s (Gong Hyo-jin) sexual anxiety (no pun intended). However, before I get down to the issues I have with the eighth episode in particular, let me broadly outline the problems the narrative is developing as the show continues (or considering my delay, the show has continued).

What felt like a strained connection between the two focuses of the drama – psychiatry and love – is now at one level, completely wrenched apart and at another level, intermingled with the purpose of sentimentalization

Their chemistry was evident by the tender and sweet look in their eyes and made fans look forward to their budding romance.
