Seo In Young Dazzles with “Magic Castle” Cover on “Immortal Song”

Solo star Seo In Young recorded a massive score of 410 in a special edition of KBS2 show “Immortal Song” on August 30. The special edition of the show was celebrating songs taken from one-million-plus selling albums, and Seo In Young chose to cover The Classic‘s “Magic Castle,” originally a hit in 1994.

The former Jewelry member spent 10 million won (about US$9,850) on the performance, and completely reinvented the song as a jazzy number, which was also a visual feast. Indeed, her performance looked as though it might not have been out of place in a musical like “Chicago,” and featured tap dancing, cabaret-style dancing and music from a nine-member brass band.

The singer also brought in eight dancers, a percussionist and three backing singers, and also picked out her own costume and accessories

Seo In Young covered The Classic"s "Magic Castle", making sure to add her fashionista flair to the stage. She said before her performance, "I prepared a performance that wouldn"t be a waste even if you paid to watch it."

The talented vocalist covered Marronnier"s hit song "Cocktail Love", and as the first one on stage, Ailee set the tone for the show. She collaborated with Lucky J"s Jay for a fresh, sweet, and lovely performance and added feminine choreography to the mix.

Davichi pulled out their trademark magic ballad vocals on the August 30th "Million seller" special of "Immortal Song 2".

The duo covered Jo Sung Mo"s hit song "Do You Know", which was originally released in 2000. Both Kang Min Young and Lee Hae Ri didn"t disappoint with their performance, and their powerful voices definitely moved the audience.

In the end, Davichi weren"t able to take the final trophy from Seo In Young.

BTOB to return to "Immortal Song 2" for "Saturday Night Fever" special

BTOB will be returning to KBS" "Immortal Song 2" after three months!

The boys last competed on the reality show in May for the "Nation"s Composer Son Suk Woo" special, and they recently filmed for the "Saturday Night Fever" episode on August 28. Cube Entertainment told allkpop that BTOB will be going for a retro "80s theme with a modern flair for their upcoming performance. 

The BTOB members themselves thought up ideas for their "Immortal Song 2" stage, putting together emotional vocals and sharp rap to pump up the audience.

In other news, BTOB are preparing for their comeback, but in the meantime, fans will be able to see them do individual promotions.

The vocal duo covered the Sook Sisters" "I"m 19", surprising the audience members who expected a ballad with their hip hop performance. Homme started by sitting on a couch and acted out a musical.

4men"s Shin Yong Jae won two rounds on the August 16th installment of "Immortal Song 2".

Shin Yong Jae covered Jo Soo Mi"s "I"m Going", and as expected, the talented vocalist managed to win over the crowd. His ballad was accompanied by a large orchestra, and his performance moved the composer of the song to tears.

The 4men member said, "I feel pressured because the song I sang with with Yoon Min Soo, "Fate", got a lot of love. "I"m Going" is different than pop, so it was a little hard to do."

Though Shin Yong Jae did win two rounds, he eventually lost to Jo Sung Mo, and Hong Kyung Min took the final trophy.

TEEN TOP"s Niel and L.Joe put on a wonderful performance on the August 16 edition of "Immortal Song 2".

The two TEEN TOP members took on Jo Sung Mo"s hit "I Swear" for the composer Lee Kyung Seob special. After their performance, Ulala Session gave high praise, stating that Niel resembled Michael Jackson while Bada stated, "Niel is young but he"s a very charismatic singer."

Despite the wonderful performance they ironically lost to Jo Sung Mo"s 414 points and it was Hong Kyung Min who took the final trophy.

Singer ALi bagged a record-breaking score on the latest episode of KBS2’s Immortal Song, with a performance of veteran musician Jo Young Nam’s “Just Once in My Life,” originally released in 1970. You can check out ALi’s version here (click on “here”) and the Jo Young Nam original below.

Stunning the crowd with her passionate dance moves and her explosive vocals, she completely reinvented the popular track. The performance, almost operatic in its execution, recorded 447 points, the highest score ever on the long-running show.

“I just can’t believe that score,” said ALi after the performance. She added, “I felt a raw energy that I have not felt since I started singing.”

It is not the first time that ALi has made the headlines with a daring remake of an older Korean classic on Immortal Song
