Please welcome Soompi Forum moderator laquetahodge, who will be covering “The Heirs” for us on a weekly basis. She has her own blog called K-Drama Central with a lot of useful information and advice on what to watch, in case your drama plate isn’t full enough! -soomp
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, then I’m sure you’ve heard about SBS’s newest drama written by Kim Eun Sook who is the brains behind last year’s “A Gentleman’s Dignity” and 2010′s “Secret Garden.” “The Heirs” is about an exclusive high school and the rich, elite students who attend it. Technically this is it, but you can also say it’s about rich kids and a poor girl who falls in love with one of the elite students at Empire High School. Either one is fine.
Actress Chae Jung Ahn has been confirmed for the upcoming KBS drama, “Prime Minister and I.”
On October 22, broadcast insiders revealed that Chae Jung Ahn has been confirmed to play Seo Hye Joo, who is Kwon Yool’s (played by Lee Bum Soo) college junior and close associate since his congressman days.
Seo Hye Joo will be playing the rival of Nam Da Jung (played by YoonA) as they enter a love triangle with Kwon Yool.
The stars crossed paths with one another all across the SNS world, and we’ve gathered their latest updates in today’s Twitter Roundup.
Starship Entertainment tweeted a photo of K.Will and EXO’s Chanyeol from the set of K.Will’s music video on October 23 along with the message, “What was it like on the set of K.Will’s music video for ‘You’ Don’t Know Love?!’ EXO’s Chanyeol who was enthusiastic despite the rainy weather and K.Will who showed up to show his support! Really heartwarming.”
Kdrama The Heirs (Inheritors) Episode 9 Recap here I’m impressed that they haven’t gone into live shooting yet and we’re still getting previews at the end of the week.I haven’t yet seen Episode 8 but based on the preview, it looks like business as usual. I’m a sucker for back hugs, though. And I love a male lead who is firm about who he loves and goes for it.
YJ is furious- how dare she says San’s name? YJ begins to cry.
DH’s mother brings out the pictures of San, alive, healthy, and well. YJ’s hands shake as she looks as the pictures, and even DH can’t shake that expression off his face.
“There’s no way I wouldn’t know that San was living,” YJ cries, still half in denial. DH’s mom says that it was all for YJ and DH, that it would’ve been impossible for YJ to raise San, that it would’ve been impossible to do anything for San with that red string (indicating YJ’s criminal record) around her ankle. She says San is growing well, but YJ doesn’t want to hear her excuses.
Preview is out! Did Tan temporary run away from home? Hahaha!
It seems like Daddy Kim plans to send Eun Sang off to study abroad to separate uri Heirs couple. Dirrrrtyyyy!

Bah, I’m not ready for new dramas to start yet, but here they come anyway. It’s like time has a mind of its own, all inconsiderate-like. KBS’s brand new Wednesday-Thursday drama Pretty Man is getting ready to premiere this week, and has released posters and more stills. The 16-episode romantic comedy stars Jang Geun-seok (Love Rain) as the prettiest man who ever was, and IU (You’re the Best, Lee Soon-shin) as the Plain Jane who loves him from afar.
A new week another round of new photo stills fresh from the press! The first one today is from all the heirs in The Heirs. The question is if they decide to give up being a Heir, what can they do?
I think Lee Hyo Shin (Kang Ha Neul) is pretty obvious what he wants to do for his future. He doesn’t want to go to law and he later on will work in the radio station. ^ ^ Netizens are worried that he might kill himself again but I don’t think he will.
Kdrama Answer Me 1994 Episode 10 Recap by DramaBeans “It might be the last”
It’s 2013, and we’re still watching the neverending wedding video. This time we get as far as the daddy-daughter walk down the aisle, at the end of which Dad has this hilarious kneejerk moment, refusing to hand Na-jung over to the bridegroom(’s stand-in). That’s cute.
Thirty-nine-year-old Na-jung sends her hubby a sly wink across the room, and of course each of our bachelor candidates reacts to it. Is anybody else tired of this one-trick pony joke?
Kdrama Basketball: Episode 10 Recap by Dramabeans
As the mine shaft collapses around San and Byeo-ri’s Dad, Chi-ho is left completely blindsided by Shin-young’s sudden marriage request. She’s at least truthful when she tells him why she’s asking, in that she’s doing it to protect San. Points for honesty?
San regains consciousness amidst the rubble and helps free Byeo-ri’s Dad’s leg from fallen rocks. The leg is badly crushed and bleeding, so the elder tells San to find a way out without him. San refuses—they’ll escape together.
Kdrama Mi Rae’s Choice: Episode 12 Recap
Shin is both surprised and slightly annoyed to find himself ambushed by Oppa with Ajumma in tow. What is this, a joke? Oppa pays him no heed; he merely instructs Ajumma to tell Shin “everything.” Crushing the DNA results in one hand and reining in his temper with a violent effort, Oppa hurls the papers at Shin and slams his way out without another word.
Shin is naturally irritated, but anger is quickly replaced by mute astonishment when he reads the DNA results. Ajumma quietly confirms her identity: “I… am Na Mi Rae from the future. In 2014… so, 24 years ago… I married you, Kim Shin.”
The Heirs episode 13 and 14 left Frau, BBSwooner, The Crazy Ahjumma and I with many feelings that can not be expressed in just a few words. We decided to create this post with all our favourite scenes from the two daebak episodes. We will rant, swoon and die as we discuss each scene and why we love it so much. Come and swoon/rant/die with us!!!!
“The Emotional Hug”
If you’re here, I’m going to assume you’ve seen the show, so let’s dive right in.
A major theme of the drama is the role of god/time/fate, whatever that force is that refuses to let Sun-woo change things to his will, even if presumably that very god/time/fate has permitted a world wherein time-traveling incense sticks exist in the first place. Quibbles. (But honestly, talk about entrapment.)
This force is not treated as a religious or paranormal power, and in fact it’s not an overt character in the drama. The characters speak of a god, but the drama doesn’t explicitly show some external force acting upon the world; it’s more of an interpretation than a hard-and-fast explanation. So while we (and the characters) infer that some generic higher power is displeased at the disruption, the issue is more about retaining a cosmic balance rather than a direct punishment-reward dichotomy.
