SBS’ God’s Gift – 14 Days finally concluded its mystery with an ending that has viewers tilting their heads in confusion.
The mysterious events that happened within the 14 days were all revealed, including the real murderer of Han Saet Byul, the daughter that Kim Soo Hyun (Lee Bo Young) and Ki Dong Chan (Cho Seung Woo) were trying to save.
However, the ending left many viewers confused and dissatisfied, not understanding why it had to end the way it did. With the ending somewhat open-ended, viewers have sought out to create their own interpretations while voicing out some complaints over the end of a well-made series.
Meanwhile, SBS’ My Heart Beats, which was on standby, ended up airing, becoming the first variety show to broadcast after the Sewol accident on April 16
Carefully but gradually, dramas are returning to television.
On Monday night, MBC’s Empress Ki and SBS’ God’s Gift – 14 Days aired its episodes. Empress Ki was set for broadcast on April 21, while God’s Gift – 14 Days was on standby and later confirmed to air.
But as expected, ratings weren’t as high as usual.
Along with dramas, variety shows are slowly making its way back on the small screen as well, with SBS’ My Heart Beats on standby for Tuesday night, depending on new updates on the Sewol tragedy.
MBC is expected go back to regular broadcasting with dramas and variety programs by April 23, although changes may occur at any time.

This past week, the fourth week of April, was a complicated one for TV programming in terms of broadcast. As most prime time variety shows and dramas were suspended while the nation waited anxiously for good news from the site of the Sewol ferry disaster, news programming and more serious broadcast like documentaries filled in the empty air time.
KBS programming swept the weekly rankings for ratings in both news, drama, and documentary program. First place went to KBS 1TV’s daily drama, “Melody of Love” (aka “Love Rides the Song“) which raked in 28.3%, according to Nielsen Korea’s April 21 release of the “Weekly Ratings Top 50 Programs.” Ratings were collected between from April 14 – April 20.
MBC and SBS made an entrance in the top 10 with Monday-Thursday drama “Empress Ki” and morning drama “Only My Love,” respectively
Unlike the other programs, KBS’ Wonderful Days was the only broadcast to air regularly on Saturday and Sunday.
Despite that fact, Wonderful Days did not see a rise in ratings. Instead, it experienced a decrease. The reason is not certain, but it could be that viewers were not aware that the drama was airing in the midst of all the broadcast cancellations, or they were more focused on waiting for updates in the ongoing SEWOL tragedy.
As of April 21, Monday night variety shows are canceled, with dramas, such as SBS’ God’s Gift – 14 Days and MBC’s Empress Ki on standby, depending on how the situation continues.

Actress Ha Ji Won will be going on a ‘glamping’ trip with fans for one night and two days, from May 31 through June 1. ‘Glampng’ is a term formed from the combination of ‘glamorous’ and ‘camping,’ referring to camping in a place where amenities are all provided. The first 128 fans to apply will be able to attend the ‘glamping’ trip.
Ha Ji Won put together this event to express her thanks to the fans that supported her during her MBC drama “Empress Ki.” While the actress did hold mini fan meetings with those that visited the set of “Empress Ki,” she wanted to make a more official event for her fans and give proper thanks. In her down time while filming, she took time to carefully plan various events for the trip, in order to maximize comfort for everyone attending
Another emergency incident caused Park Ki Woong to cry frustrated tears on SBS’ My Heart Beats.
On Tuesday’s broadcast, Park Ki Woong visited a couple, who shared an incident that happened to their first child. The mother experienced pregnancy-induced hypertension, putting both her and her 28-week-old baby in danger. The couple called for an ambulance so that they could deliver the baby.
However, during their ride to the hospital, an elderly man on a motorcycle was riding on a pedestrian crossing when the ambulance accidentally hit the motorcycle.
The elderly man demanded money for his motorcycle repairs upfront, while the paramedics and the husband begged him to settle this later, willing to exchange contact information. However, the elderly man remained stubborn, demanding money, refusing to let the ambulance pass and stealing precious time from the mother and baby
SBS’ Healing Camp ranked number one for another week with legendary singer Lee Sun Hee as its guest.
The ratings increased from 7.6 to 7.8 with the second half of Lee Sun Hee’s episode airing on Monday night.
Not only did Lee Sun Hee continue to tell her life story through all of her accomplishments, but she also performed her version of Baek Ji Young’s I Won’t Love, bringing a whole new mood to the already sad song. Lee Seung Gi and Baek Ji Young also performed the song on the show for their senior.

While it seemed like an impossible wall to climb, SBS’ My Heart Beats finally received higher ratings than its rival show, KBS’ Our Neighborhood Variety and Sports.
On Tuesday night, My Heart Beats received a rating of 3.4 percent. While the numbers are quite low, the ratings for Our Neighborhood Variety and Sports ranked lower with 3.3 percent.
Since the difference is still quite small, it’s completely possible for the sport entertainment program to rise back up, especially with the new format and new incoming members.
Meanwhile, MBC’s PD’s Note, which airs at the same time as the two variety programs, recorded 5.6 percent.

No matter how intricate the pot, SBS’ God’s Gift – 14 Days isn’t getting its break, still floating in the single digits while so close to breaking ten percent.
God’s Gift has for the most part captured the attention of viewers with its mystery plot as well as the growing number of suspects who each hold a secret against the protagonist.
The drama also has a talented cast of Lee Bo Young, Cho Seung Woo, Kim Tae Woo, and more, who have acted flawlessly since the first episode. But God’s Gift has broken through ten percent just once on March 25’s episode with 10.6 percent.
With only five more episodes to go, it’s uncertain whether or not God’s Gift will even get to break into double digits again, especially with MBC’s Empress Ki clouding over it with 24

While the numbers may not seem very high, SBS’ My Heart Beats is still celebrating as it gains more and more recognition from the public.
On Tuesday night, both My Heart Beats and KBS’ Our Neighborhood Variety and Sports tied for first with 4.4 percent.
Usually overshadowed by Our Neighborhood Variety and Sports, My Heart Beats struggled as a kind variety show, teaching viewers about the efforts firefighters and EMTs put into saving people.
Even though ratings have consistently stayed between 4 and 5 percent, the effect of the program has been seen, especially with the celebrity firefighters promoting the ‘Miracle of Moses’ campaign, in which cars move out of the way for emergency vehicles
With ‘Don’t Trust Anyone’ becoming the new slogan, SBS’ God’s Gift kept viewers guessing and dying of curiosity with a new episode.
The drama fell from its two-digit ratings, but the story still kept viewers locked, trying to figure out who is Han Set Byul (Kim Yoo Bin)’s murderer. As the main characters dove deeper and deeper into finding the murder, an even more complicated backstory began to open up.
But viewers were most rattled when a trusted character turned out to be a suspect, making them suspect all the characters who have appeared in the drama.

The March 30 episode of MBC’s “Section TV” revealed some of the behind-the-scenes of casting for the drama “Empress Ki.” According to the broadcast, Ji Chang Wook’s role of Ta Hwan might have gone to fellow actor Jang Geun Suk. The production team really tried to recruit Jang Geun Suk for the role, but he had another drama in mind, and as “Empress Ki” is a longer drama, it didn’t fit with Jang Geun Suk’s international schedule.
Moreover, it was revealed that Baek Jin Hee’s role for Tanashiri first went to actress Kim Min Jung, and when that failed, Baek Jin Hee was cast just one week before filming started for the drama.
Soompiers, what do you think? Do you think Jang Geun Suk would’ve been better as Ta Hwan? or Kim Min Jung as Tanashiri?

It has been revealed that casting for Empress Ki changed at the last minute.
March 30’s broadcast of MBC’s Section TV revealed the story behind the drama casting.
Empress Ki, which has been earning over 30% in viewership ratings, originally cast Jang Keun Suk and Kim Min Jung for the roles currently played by Ji Chang Wook and Baek Jin Hee, respectively.
Having acted alongside Ha Ji Won previously in Hwang Jin Yi, Jang Keun Suk was expected to be a great partner for the actress in another historical drama. However, Jang Keun Suk’s casting got nullified due to his schedules abroad, which overlapped with the 50 episode long drama.
Many actors also refused to take the role, since having to do a pigtail was rumored to cause misfortune, and the role was finally given to Ji Chang Wook
