The drama I found most disappointing in 2013

By in News posted Oct January 26th, 2014 No comments

I did not watch every single drama that aired in Korea in 2013, but out of the ones I had watched, there was one that I was obsessed with that I already wrote about last week and one that I still don"t know how I managed to finish. For this week, I will finally unveil (I know the week-long wait must have been torture) which drama I was most disappointed with in 2013. Keep in mind once again that I did not watch every drama so this is what I consider the worst drama of 2013 out of the ones I"ve watched (SPOILERS BELOW).

MOST DISAPPOINTING K-DRAMA

There was a lot of hype for this drama and honestly... I think the only reason I managed to finish SBS"s "Heirs" was because of the eye candy

EXO

How could we possibly talk about 2013 and leave EXO out? (On a side note: I keep using this picture for my EXO articles because I really like it for some reason.) When EXO debuted in 2012 with "MAMA", they had a lot of fangirls crying at their awesomeness. But then as 2012 rolled on and on, and then 2012 turned to 2013, EXO seemed to simply fade in the background with next-to-zero promotions

Ivy Proves Singer Kim Bum Soo Is a Neat Freak

By in News posted Oct January 25th, 2014 No comments

Singer and musical actress Ivy revealed a photo of singer Kim Bum Soo’s refrigerator.

On January 23, Ivy posted a photo and wrote on her blog, “Not long ago, we had a wine party at Bumsoo oppa’s house. I knew he was a neat freak, but what’s this in his fridge? The top shelf is stocked with make-up, the middle shelf is stocked with water bottles, and the bottom shelf is stocked with sikhye (sweet rice drink). Bum Soo oppa is a shikhye lover.”

She continued the blog post by writing, “After enjoying some wine, Guri Guri oppa (Yang Dong Geun) transformed into a monster. Everyone helped clear away the traces of our wine party and prepared for the second round. It was time for Bum Soo oppa’s Snack Myun time! He says Snack Myun is the best ramen.”

Prior to Ivy’s blog post, Kim Bum Soo appeared on KBS 2TV’s “Happy Together” back in 2012 and said, “I’m a neat freak

I Need Romance 3: Episode 1 – Episode 2 Recap

I Need Romance 3 - Episode 1, Episode 2 Recap by Couch-Kimchi:

The third installment of the I Need Romance series is here and I bet you thought you learned something about romance in the first two series, right? Pfft. Those two were chickenfeed compared to this drama which is pulling all the stops when it comes to romance. And to show just how serious they are about it, there’s French everywhere. The first words spoken are: “J’ai envie de romance” which means I might need to have Google Translate open to keep from missing anything.

The drama begins with a little girl walking in the first snowfall of the year with a cute French song playing in the background. Where’s she going? The male narrator tells us that she was going to see him shortly after exiting his mother’s womb

Looking Back at “Reply 1997″ and “Reply 1994″

By in News posted Oct January 13th, 2014 No comments

Warning: Contains Spoilers

1. Introduction

Last year, tvN scored a smash hit with “Reply 1997,” transporting us to a much simpler decade infused with nostalgia, growing pains, 90s pop culture and fan girls. The drama premiered with little hype, but gained recognition through word of mouth, becoming a sensation and breaking the 6% ratings barrier, considered to be high for a cable drama, and that’s not even counting the rebroadcasts. In fact, Episodes 15 and 16 of “Reply 1997” was broadcast on tvN, Olive, Mnet, OCN, Onstyle and Ongamenet simultaneously. Set in 1997 Busan, “Reply 1997″ was the coming-of-age story of a group of high schoolers who grow through their own share of teenage troubles

“Man From the Stars” Kim Soo Hyun Increases Book Sales

By in News posted Oct January 12th, 2014 No comments

American writer Kate DiCamillo’s “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” recently sold over 30,000 copies.

The book was first published in 2009, and was quickly forgotten without receiving much interest. However, it’s as if the book has sprouted wings; it’s selling like crazy. This is because of its appearance in the currently very hot SBS drama, “Man From the Stars.”

In the drama, which is about the fateful love story of 400-year-old alien Do Min Joon (Kim Soo Hyun) and top star Chun Song Yi (Jun Ji Hyun), Do Min Joon is often seen reading books, and they have become more than just simple props.

The lines from the book fantastically fall in line with the innocent heart of Do Min Joon, and give his story another level of wholeness, as well as an additional element of foreshadowing in the drama

By in News posted Oct January 11th, 2014 No comments

Big Bang’s Taeyang and Seungri celebrated their new year together. The recent photo had revealed their lean, charming, and handsome selves together. On January 9, Seungri had uploaded their picture together on his Instagram account with one sentence, “The beginning of 2014”.

However, on this day, the two gentlemen in the photo displayed their new styles by dressing semi-formal and looking very sharp. Sistar’s official Twitter shared the photo first. The picture is of Hyorin, offering a a cute smile while she wears a pair of black glasses. It looks like she is also wearing headphones, so perhaps she took this selca while relaxing to some music. Although Hyorin promoted her song “One Way Love” with a fierce and sexy image, here we see a more subtle and sweeter side to her.

Along with the picture was the caption, “[Hyorin] Wrapping up the last days of the Hong Kong trip in Macao. I’m sad that we’ll be returning to Korea soon.”

A Look at the Hundreds of Stars Who Chose SNSD’s Yoona as Their Ideal Type

By in News posted Oct January 2nd, 2014 No comments

Grab a tissue, boys, because Girls’ Generation’s Yoona is officially off the market.

On January 1, both Lee Seung Gi and Yoona confirmed that they have been dating since September, 2013, becoming the new star couple of 2014.

With the surprising, yet expected birth of another pretty couple, Yoona’s Tang Soo Yook (sweet and sour pork) list has been spotlighted once again.

The Tang Soo Yook list refers to Korean Chinese restaurants that give stickers with each order. When a large number of stickers is collected, the restaurant will provide a free dish of tang soo yook.

A comedian mentioned in the past that if all the men that chose Yoona as an ideal type were stickers, Yoona could get a free dish.

Since then, fans collected all of the ‘stickers,’ compiling all the stars, ranging from actors, singer, to athletes, and even celebrities from overseas
