After a few quiet weeks, we have a lot of movement in the top 10 this week. There are five new songs, including our new No. 1 song this week. Miss A’s latest hit “Hush” debuted only at No. 20 a week ago but moved up 19 spots to take over as our new No. 1 song, easily winning over last week’s No. 1 Trouble Maker’s “Now.” Miss A hasn’t hit No. 1 on our chart since “Touch” in March of last year. Congratulations.
Sistar’s Hyorin grabs all the headlines on this week’s chart as both of her title songs “One Way Love” and “Lonely” moves into the top 10, with “One Way Love” up 18 spots all the way to No. 1, just edge out last week’s top song 2NE1’s “Missing You.” Congratulations.
Known as one of the best vocalists among female idol group members, Hyorin recently released her first solo album “Love & Hate.” Before this release, Hyorin has already participated in many drama OST’s. Using the slow dance concept that works well for her sub-unit Sistar19 earlier this year, “One Way Love” is about a girl’s thought on the sadness of having a one way love and not getting loved in return. It also features the much criticized crab dance. “One Way Love” is written by Brave Brothers and it is the third song of this genre written by the hitmaker this year. Sistar19’s “Gone Not Around Any Longer” and After School’s “First Love” were also big hits. “One Way Love” has already won on MBC Music Core last week, M!Countdown, and KBS Music Bank this week.

Veteran male duo Fly To The Sky claimed the top spot on our chart this week with “You You You,” moving up from No. 19 last week. Many first generation Kpop artists are coming back recently, Fly To The Sky being one of them. The duo last released their 8th album in 2009 with “Corner” went to No. 2. Members Brian and Hwanhee have been working as solo artists since then. They finally reunited and released their 9th album “Continuum” recently. The title track “You You You” is a powerful ballad. Brian and Hwanhee once again harmonize their flawless vocals with the magnificent sound of this song. The lyrics are about a man who can’t let go of the woman he loves. “You You You” easily won over last week’s No. 1 song Junggigo’s “Want You” by 79 points. This song was also No. 1 on MBC’s Music Core last week. Congratulations to Fly To The Sky.
Notes on a Scandal: What Can SM Entertainment Learn from 2014? Written by Kelsey On July 30, 2014
All is not well in the house of SM Entertainment. To be fair, 2014 thus far has given us a host of scandals across the entertainment companies, but SM has had more than a full plate of controversies, most of which have been handled really, really poorly.
I’m sure the big wigs in the management offices have asked each other the question we’re mulling over now: how can so many things go wrong in a such a short time period?
Having had a hiatus from Japanese promotions for more than a year, 2AM finally returned to their Japanese fans with a short version music video of their latest track “Bye Bye”!
Unlike their previous Japanese single “One Spring Day,” the music video is set in a simple black background, showing nothing but shadowed close-ups of the four individual members. Wearing simply a white flannel and neat hairstyles, 2AM hold genuine expressions portraying the desire and pain of letting a lover go.
So I Guess This Is Goodbye, GLAM? Written by Paloma On November 20, 2014
GLAM, oh, GLAM. I still remember when you debuted, now two and a half years ago. 2012 wasn’t an easy year, but you still managed to garner some attention with that concept that wasn’t either sexy, cute, nor 2NE1 and those sexually ambiguous lyrics. It felt like a breath of fresh air, and now, two years, three promoted songs, a couple of OSTs and two scandals after, your future is uncertain — and that’s an euphemism — and I’m worried.
Younha will be the seventh artist to sing the OST for Pinocchio.
SBS Pinocchio’s OST Part. 7 Younha – You Passionately (translated) set to be released on December 31, is a song featuring Younha’s sentimental voice.
You Passionately is a medium tempo ballad song written by the producing team ‘Wasabii Sound,’ who also wrote the songs for Baek Ji Young, Kim Yeon Woo, Max Changmin and Baek Ah Yeon. The song contains Dal Po (Lee Jong Suk) and In Ha (Park Shin Hye) slowly expressing their feelings for each other.
Another trailer is now circulating online for the upcoming web drama, “Dream Knight,” starring GOT7, Song Ha Yoon, 2AM”s Changmin, miss A”s Min, 2PM”s Chansung, 15&”s Park Ji Min, SS501″s Kim Hyung Jun, Lee Kuk Ju, Clara, Chun Myung Hoon, Choi Woo Sik, and of course J.Y. Park.
The drama, which is the combined efforts of Korea and China, follows a young girl who is suffering from past events when a mysterious group of boys appears to change her life! It will premiere on January 27 through Naver TV Cast, Tudou, and Youku.
GOT7’s “Dream Knight” and the Idol Web Drama Trend Written by Chelsea On February 11, 2015
GOT7‘s new web drama, Dream Knight is something straight out of an OC/Got7 fanfic. The drama, presented online through Navercast TV, Youku and Todou, packs all the fun of a shouju manga — along with gratuitous silliness — into short 15 minute episodes that allow the members to charm their way further into fans’ hearts.
Roundtable: The Annual Valentine’s Chocolate Game! Written by Seoulbeats On February 13, 2015
It’s that time of the year again!
The K-pop gods have, for some reason, granted you the opportunity to give a Valentine’s Day gift to all the members of your Hallyu bias list. You slave away, hand-making chocolate for your bias list and your efforts pay off. Unfortunately, the chocolates are so delicious that you get carried away with the taste-testing.
You realize too late that you’ve eaten pretty much all of the chocolate — only three pieces are left. You look at the measly amount sitting on the kitchen bench, then at your bias list. After hurriedly beseeching the K-pop gods to magically multiply your now-pitiful stash (which doesn’t work, by the way) you come to the realization that, this year, you may have to be a bit more economical with your love.
