“The Alumni” (or “The Commitment“) took the number one spot at the box office on its opening day, November 6.
According to the Korean Film Commission’s total ticket sales count, “The Alumni” brought 125,672 viewers to the cinema on its first day of release, earning it first place at the box office. The combined total number of viewers to date goes up to 132,183, including those who attended the premiere.
With that, “The Alumni” knocked Hollywood blockbuster “Thor: The Dark World” off its first place spot, which had been sitting at number one since opening on October 30.

On November 4, Lee Hee Myung, who wrote the SBS drama “Queen of Ambition,” sued the Korean Radio & TV Writers Association. The writers association had expelled the writer for copyright infringement in August following a meeting of the directors and the sanction committee, who said that certain parts of his work were too similar to another.
Verdi Media, the company that was in charge of producing “Queen of Ambition,” announced on November 6, “Writer Lee Hee Myung and Verdi Media filed a suit on November 4 against the writers association for defamation due to the publications made. They are requesting a withdrawal of the expulsion, as well as compensation.”
Through his legal representative, Lee Hee Myung stated, “Because of this nonsense about plagiarism, and the forceful, one-sided expulsion, not only was I affected, but my family was hurt by it, too

Rapper-turned-actor T.O.P sat down with TV Daily for an interview right before the premiere of the movie “The Alumni.” He opened up about his on-screen little sister Kim Yoo Jung and answered a few questions regarding little sisters in general.
In the movie, T.O.P plays the role of a North Korean agent Ri Myung Hoon, who agrees to go on a mission to South Korea in order to protect his one and only little sister Ri Hye In (Kim Yoo Jung). He is a true “sister’s brother” who always thinks about his little sister first.
The actor, who was revealed to be the mood-maker on set, revealed, “Yoo Jung is the younger one, but she is so concentrated and mature that most of the time I felt like I was the one joking

On October 30, T.O.P briefly talked about the concept of his new song during an interview for his movie, The Commitment, at the West 19th in Samcheong-dong.
“There were a lot of things I wanted to express through music, so with this album, I personally created the music I wanted to express,” said T.O.P. “I’ll be rising to the stage with a self-composed song.”
On the new song, he said, “I wanted the explanation for music to be refreshing. I think it’s very strange, yet very humorous. It’s kind of a combative concept, but I think it will be fun.”
T.O.P shared that he participated in the music video as well.
“Because the music I created is my interpretation of the song, I also gave ideas while making and participated in the directing of the music video,” said T
Actor Hyun Bin received an award for “Savings Day.”
On October 29, the Korean government held the “50th Savings Day” event at the Sejong Hall in the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. Overall, 99 individuals were recipients of various awards given by the President, the Prime Minister, and the Chair of the Monetary Committee.

tvN drama “Nine: Nine Times Time Travel” will be made remade into an American drama with actress Yunjin Kim acting as Executive Producer.
CJ E&M announced that “Nine” has been picked up by Fake Empire Productions, the company behind hit American television series such as “Gossip Girl,” “Carrie Dairies,” and “Chuck,” for the major network channel ABC. The script for the pilot is currently in process, and the pilot could air as early as May of next year.
