THE PREMISE

To get a fuller intro into the show, you can catch our recaps for Episode 1 and Episode 2, but I’ll give an abbreviated setup anyway:

Our hero is Park Sun-woo (Lee Jin-wook), a successful news anchor who sees every scenario through a no-nonsense, facts-first lens. He has an older brother who’s a wandering lost soul, as weak-willed as Sun-woo is strong; his ailing mother lives in a nursing home with dementia; and his father, a hospital director, was killed twenty years ago in a fire.

A picture from the new MBC drama “Miss Korea” shooting was revealed on November 27, two of which the starring actress Lee Yeon Hee seems to be enjoying herself dancing at a club.

Filmed at a night club in a hotel located in Gangnam, Lee Yeon Hee’s character Oh Ji Young is showing off her hot dance skills.

The director of the drama Kwon Seok Jang helped the actress with words of encouragement as she was nervous to dance in front of the crowd, and said, “Hey Ji Young, let’s start to dance a bit and enjoy!”

Tan adds, “It’s cold…and dark.” Silence falls between them again as they each try to fight off the cold and dark feeling hovering over them because of their fathers.

At a cafe, Tan discusses his situation with a woman, who we learn is a lawyer. Tan doesn’t trust the lawyers at Jeguk anymore, and he wants this new lawyer’s help transferring legal proxy rights to Won from JS for his stocks.

Variety Roulette: Rain Effect

Variety Roulette: Rain Effect

I totally wasn’t intending to write up the brand-new reality show Rain Effect, but I fired up the first episode out of curiosity and immediately got sucked into its fun, funny vibe. (Trust me, I wasn’t looking for another thing to recap!) It’s been a while since we’ve done a Variety Roulette; nothing like a little Rain to merit a comeback.

These kinds of reality-docu shows aren’t by any means new, but it’s not often you get one with a star as big as Rain. (And I’m sure I’m not the only one who had a brief flash to the Jeon Ji-hyun character doing one in the newly premiered drama You From Another Star.) True, he hasn’t been as big in recent years as he once was at the height of his pop-star fame (the mid-2000s were SO all about Rain), even if you factor for his two-year army-duty absence, but he’s certainly achieved enough to have solidified his place as a lasting star in the K-pop firmament.

In order to help Jung-tae learn how to fight against swords, Boss Hwang takes him to the gibang to meet Ajusshi Choi. Though Jung-tae’s known him for a while, he seems unaware of Ajusshi’s past as a guard for the Korean Empire (which ended in 1910 when Japan annexed Korea).

So Ajusshi Choi takes Jung-tae under his tutelage, and despite what I thought, Jung-tae isn’t trying to learn how to use a sword, but to fight unarmed against one. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but… why wouldn’t he want to use a sword even just as a shield instead of relying on his squishy human flesh for protection?

‘Nodame Cantible’ To Be Called ‘Tomorrow Cantible’

Now that the shojo manga-inspired Japanese drama “Nodame Cantabile” is being remade into a k-drama, its name will also get a makeover.

The drama”s production company has changed the name to “Tomorrow Cantabile.”

That had to happen because the name of the main character in Japan was Nodame, but she will now be called Seo Nae Il, which means tomorrow in Korean. The manga author Tomoko Ninomiya named his character after an actual musician named Megumi Noda but now that the drama is set in Korea, that name had to be changed.
