Putting a spotlight on multicultural families in Korea, 4minute’s Kwon So Hyun will be taking the female lead in the new movie, Hwang Gu.

Cube Entertainment announced on October 22, “The movie Kwon So Hyun will be appearing in will put a new perspective on multicultural families. She will be playing the character Mi Soo, who roots on her half-Korean boyfriend, who’s attempting to become a national athlete for taekwondo.

This will be Kwon So Hyun’s first solo activity outside of 4minute as well as her first acting job.

“This is my first time venturing out alone, so I’m glad to be greeting people through the big screen with such a good project,” said Kwon So Hyun. “It’s a very meaningful project, so I will work hard to make people watch it with warm glances.”

The movie will begin filming on October 28 and is scheduled for premiere in 2014.
